Could a member kindly advise. Am not very pleased to find the 8000 has a
low spec WiFi card. Tried to setup original mini pci card, it sees my Router
SSID but after setup appears it won't handle the higher encryption, am using
802 11N.

Has anyone set up their STB using wireless ? Have been searching net for
better spec 300mps though not sure if the STB will handle it. Can't find any
info on existing WiFi card.

Any help appreciated. Phoned one company today but have to ring back next
week to get more technical help. Have tracked down one card but they don't
sell it.

It's Possible, i had to turn off encryption on my Wifi N Router, and using the wifi Mac adress to connect.
Turned Off Encryption and using Mac Filter to Connect, entered the Mac from my Dm on Router, this way only the equipment with matching Mac adress will Connect.
Take a look on your Router Wifi Setings, maybe you have the same function.

don't use wifi - you can't stream HD over it. wired is fine.

Thanks for the replies,

@ passete, will take a look at Router which is a Belkin N1 but have 2 Laptops
& printer setup for WiFi so inconvenient.

@oldfart, normally I would agree with you but STB is 10/100 & could have
300mps via WiFi. Also have only 2 Ethernet connections plastered into wall.
One is used for Protek STB, 2nd is for Media Player though usually load that
via USB. All my PCs & Network are 1gbit.

Have mailed Dream support so interesting to see if I get a reply. The 8000
should be better spec for the price.

Mate, in this case just add an ethernet switch (cost's 15€ for 5 port's), problem Solved.
I agree with Oldfart, but in my case i need to use Both wired and wireless, connected at the same time, otherwhise my Cccam stop's (many Clines).
With Wired 10/100 you can Stream HD without any Problem, but with wireless, not sure.

It's a thought but already have an eight switch upstairs !!! Also too much
equipment underneath TV as it is. Can dl with laptop to at least 900KB/s
via WiFi. Will have to see how well the DB works as Media Player once I
have sorted a drive out then not bother with other unit or use USB to load it.

At present am looking at the spaklan wmir-278gn. My Router has 20 to 40 MHZ settings. The spec on the card is ht 40 2.42+ & ht 20 band 2.412+ No
idea how this collates to Router. Needs Linux plus 2.6 version.
