Could a member advise what version Linux is on the 8000. Am looking at
at a mini WiFi card & it needs above 2.6 version for drivers.

Any help appreciated.

You mean the kernel has to be greater than 2.6, this depends on the image you have installed. Which kernel revision is installed can be found either with the command saintomer1866 wrote or with
uname -r Busybox is something like a small sized "all in one" executable, nothing to do with drivers.

Opendreambox 1.5 was based on revision 2.6.12 while latest opendreambox 1.6 is based on 2.6.18.

Thanks to all for replies. Due to a rehash of Hobby room & PCs have still to
seutp a connection to 8000. Still have to look into what software I need as
all mine is out of date !!! May use my Laptop but prefer to setup a drive in
another PC, also have to see if I can run in Win 7.

Just got STB running on 7 Sats at present. Am waiting for an adapter plate
to try 2.5 drive. Also have ordered a Seagate Hybrid 500 gb 7200 which is
small part solid state. Solid state drives are too small & expensive at present,
& have to test out 5400 as want a quiet STB.

Have given up on DVD players in it. Tried a Samsung with tray that was just
as noisy as Sony optiarc which I have refitted as Samsung tray was jamming
until removed but didn't bother to sort it. Hope to sort out a better WiFi card
next week. ( Samsung seemed noisier than Sony with slot & easier to use)
