Long time reader of these forums but first time poster. Got a TomTom One v2 and simply want to put the latest maps on there without using a patched v8 navcore. I'm running the official v7.903 that works fine and understand this needs to be patched which I've done after activating the maps but I keep getting the dreaded No Maps Found message on starting the TomTom One no matter which compatible map I try.

I've spent days on this now and it refuses to work even though I'm following the instructions to the letter on the thread here (https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthread.php?t=104228). Hoping someone can help me figure out what I'm doing wrong :(

Current build is TomTom One v2 running official navcore v7.903 and maps 660.1199 installed on the supplied 256MB SD card. Here's what I've done:

1. Remove TomTom supplied 256MB SD card from TT One and use a card reader to copy the entire contents of the SD card to a new c:\temp directory on the PC. There are lots of folders including voice, TT Home and a bunch of other stuff that I've no idea about but it's all copied across intact.

2. Delete the existing United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ir eland directory from C:\temp and also the zip directory that holds the postcodes.

3. Copy the entire contents of the new downloaded 850.2820 United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ir eland directory to c:\temp so it has the updated 850.2820 map compatible with v7.903 navcore.

4. Copy the new 850 postcode files to the zip directory.

5. Copy the ****.txt file for the new 850.2820 map to the c:\temp directory.

6. Run Alberts Easy Activator 0.57.21 as posted on the forums here (https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthread.php?t=104228).

7. Select TT8_keygen (this is auto selected depending upon which map you choose anyway in step 9 below).

8. Browse to the ttgo.bif file in c:\temp to grab the device id.

9. Browse to c:\temp\United_Kingdom_and_Republ ic_of_Ireland that has the new 850.2820 map copied in step 3 above.

10. Open the ****.txt file in c:\temp for the new 850.2820 map.

11. Click the button to generate the new dct file for the 850.2280 map. I can see the file has been generated in the c:\temp\United_Kingdom_and_Republ ic_of_Ireland folder and no errors are returned by Easy Activator.

12. Click the button to patch v7.903 navcore ttsystem file in the c:\temp directory. No errors returned by Easy Activator and I can see the new ttsystem file created as well as the old one backed up in the same directory.

13. Format a new 1GB SD card to FAT and copy across the entire contents of c:\temp\United_Kingdom_and_Republ ic_of_Ireland to the root of SD card.

14. Insert SD card into TomTom One and go beserk as it says "No Maps Found". Inserting the original TomTom card with 660.1199 maps intact fires it back up again just fine.

Some of the things I've tried none of which have worked:

- used different compatible maps with v7.903 (e.g. 835.2366 or 840.2561) all of which are activated successfully by Easy Activator.

- put ****.txt in the same directory as Easy Activator and open it from there.

- put the new maps folder in the same directory as Easy Ectivator to activate it first and then copy it across to the c:\temp directory.

- try every single SD card I have!

I haven't tried a patched v8 navcore as I don't need ALG or ASR and would rather stick with the more stable patched original.

I just can't work out what's wrong. I've copied the entire contents of my original TT SD card to the new 1GB SD card and that works perfectly so it's not the card. I'm usually good with these things and have flashed mobiles, PC's, set-top boxes and all other manner of equipment but this has me well and truly stumped :(

I'm obviously doing something wrong or have misread Russ' instructions on the sticky. Can anyone help?

:banghead:

I prefer using the following

BBS Tools v1.0.35 ( JULY 2010) Tomtom Activation Tool (https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthread.php?t=127518)

If your using original Navacore
you will first need to patch the ttsystem
then you can use the keygen to edit the Met@ txt
and finally patch your Map

Hope this helps

I think you need V9 navcore to run the latest maps.

Get a blank memory card, use Tomtom home to update navcore until no more updates available (v7.903), get any voice files you want. Add nearly latest UK & RoI map - v860.3126 & v860 postcode files (don't know about v865 maos cos I'm away on holiday). Patch ttsystem file & activate map. This map will work with v7.903.

Thanks for the reply, I downloaded BBS Tools, got the latest ****.txt and followed the instructions on the thread. I extracted the ****.txt from the map which doesn't look right as it says:

; United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ir eland v850.2820
EC 2D 34 1D 98 BC 48 C0 7A B1 88 E2 0A EF 0A 79 United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ir eland-169.****

there should be no "space" and "v" in the first line, it should just be an underscore I think. The correct **** is already in the BBS ****.txt anyway for this map version. I did add the above **** but it made no difference.

When I hit the activate button, it came back with Map Activated but it still says "No Maps Found" in TT. I also noticed that in BBS Tools, it doesn't say which map is in use or the version at the bottom of the main screen even with the original SD card that does work so I reckon somethings wrong here.

I think you need V9 navcore to run the latest maps.

According to the compatibility charts, a patched 7.9x will work with 860.3126 and even 865.3246 so it *should* work. I'll post the compatibility charts up here tomorrow.

I've tried activating 860.3126 already but will try again tomorrow by using a blank card and going throguh TT Home first as you suggested, cheers for the reply.

Some other things I've tried this eve to find out what the prob could be (none of which worked, I still get Maps Not Found :banghead:)

- copied an unactivated map to use with the original 7.9x navcore (expected to at least see a message saying you cannot use this map or map must be activated or similar)

- connecting the TT One using a USB cable and trying to patch directly in case it was the card reader

- putting the ****.txt in the same folder as the map files

- patching ttsystem first and then the maps (and vice versa)

- disabled antivirus and firewall when patching

- copied the new map files over the old maps files (instead of deleting) in case some the original files like United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ir eland.mms or mapsettings.cfg are needed

There's just something I'm missing here I think and it's just driving (no pun intended) me nuts :cuss:

One thing I've noticed is that even though the ttsystem is patched, it still has the same datetime stamp and size. It looks as if the file isn't even being touched

The only other thing I can try is a patched navcore v8 but I really didn't want to do this as I just want to upgrade the map only without the overhead of all the extra stuff.

Am I being a muppet and missing something obvious here? :(

Hi CBMVic20

I failed to get any of these maps working until I tried Alberts easy activator current latest version I believe is EA5_v0.57.21

Believe Russell has listed it on these pages.

I have not had a failure since, have you tried it?

Good luck.

SUCCESS!!

I did as you suggested Russ and it's all working fine :respect-054: :hurray: :respect-039:

1. Got a blank FAT formatted SD card and put it in the TomTom.

2. Started TT Home and connected the device.

3. Let TT Home do it's business and update the application and add the voices.

4. Disconnected and reconnected so that TT Home could install further updates (repeated until no further updates available).

5. Disconnected and shut down TT Home completely (it stays open in the system tray). Connected TT One again so it appears as a drive in Windows Explorer.

6. I then did exactly what I've been doing every night for the last week trying to get it to work. First I copied the 860.3126 maps to the SD drive making sure the folder name was correct for my UK maps.

7. Copied the postcode zip folder for 860 postcodes to the SD card.

8. Started Easy Activator and patched the ttsystem file. I knew it had worked this time because it took a good few minutes to patch (previously, it had been patching in a matter of seconds with both Easy Activator and BBS Tools) and the timestamp of the ttsystem file was different from the backup once done. Note that the antivirus kicked in asking to run the various patching tools (selected ignore for this so it could run).

9. Selected TT8_keygen.

10. Browsed to the 860.3126 map on my TT SD card.

11. Browsed to the me ta text file for the 860.3126 maps.

12. Generated the dct file and disconnected the TT One.

13. Started it all up, checked the navcore version (7.903) and maps (860.3126).

So it looks like there was something with the original ttsystem file that prevented it from patching because it was over in seconds and the date and timestamp was always the same as the original navcore.

Haven't tested it fully yet, Jane seems to be strangely quiet, usually when I switch on the device and choose a detination she pipes up straight away to say "turn left" or similar. However, I did do a test sound and she's still there.

Thanks again Russ for your suggestion, I didn't even know you could stick in a blank SD card and do it this way, I thought you always needed to copy from an existing build. Lesson learnt now :respect-048: :cheers2:

One last thing, as mentioned yesterday, I've posted the navcore-map compatibility charts here (https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthread.php?t=147833), hope it's useful for people when deciding which maps to install ;)

Cheers mate, just posted above, I finally got it working as Russ suggested by using a blank SD card and restoring via TT Home :respect-048:

I've seen a version of Alberts Easy Activator version 0.60.02 (EA6_v0.60.02) that has a more streamlined interface and seems to do everything with one click but if 0.57 works fine then I'd stick with that.

Quick update on this, tried the TT One today and it seems to be fine, a little slow to pick up the GPS signal but Jane is as vocal as ever.

One thing I've found with the new maps and postcode is that several house numbers on my old 660.1199 have vanished from 860.3126 :ack2:

I'm sure it's got the 860 postcodes but will try older maps and/or postcodes until said house numbers return, these are for roads and houses that have been around since the 1930's
