Hello,

We are pleased to release JaZUp 2.0.

https://www.satpimps.co.uk/attachment.php?attachmentid=48568&stc=1&d=1299932342

change log:

2.0
- Support for the new patch.e2 file format
- Multilingual user interface and messages
- patch.e2 files are now loaded from your PC, no more USB needed.
So if you are familiar with JaZUp 1.x the way of working has changed, please read the attached PDF.
- when installing to USB only the target USB stick is needed
- When creating backup of official firmware data, file is now downloaded and you can set the name of your backup file
- No more support for patch.bin file format
- Disable Hardware Acceleration even in Rescue Mode
- Uninstall Priority Manager from official firmware to avoid conflict when upgrading
- fix E2 partitions problems on official DOM (256MB) if needed
- Automatic rename dummy patch.bin into _patch.bin to allow Azbox full reboot after upgrade

Known issue: when you have E2 installed on an USB memory stick the switch to rescue mode, doesn't work. This is a kernel bug, not a JaZUp2 bug. You need to insert another USB stick whith a dummy patch.bin file to force the Rescue Mode.

Hi,

At first let me thank you for your great work.

Do you think this project can be ported to run on Android Mobile Phone?
Would be perfect.

Thanks.

Hello,

Why not ! ;)
Nothing is very complicate in jazup. I use standard java api and the excellent commons-net-2.2 library of apache. But i never make a soft for android OS.

Hello,

No we didn't implement the second boot from USB, since we provide a full official firmware data backup / restore tool.

And with Jazup 2.0 you can safely switch from official firmware to E2 and vice-versa.

Hi,

Normally yes, it seems that your USB stick is not properly detected by the E2 kernel.
Please format it with the HP format tools provided with JaZUp 2.0 to clean it up and put it back into FAT32 and retry.
Otherwhise please try with another USB stick.

Hello,

The problem came from the kernel, sometimes it doesn't detect the USB.
Sometimes a simple reboot fix the problem or perhaps a cold restart (power off/power on).

So if the kernel doesn't detect the USB, JaZUp 2.0 perform the upgrade.

Hi,

If there is a need for this function we can have a look and see how to implement it. We have no idea if people are using it or not, so we skip it in JaZUp 2.0.

I can understand, when it's not used you shouldn't spent time on it.
When I'm the only one using it you can leave it away :).
Lets see who would like to have this option ?

Hello MoRpHiUS_x,

Please, can you give me the log file of your backup action ?

Sometimes, i have this error but the FTP services have problem on AZBOX official firmware. I start again backup and the FTP get me finally my backup.
I made intensive FTP test of my code with FTP connect on other system like Ubuntu,
and i never get this error... but i'm not immune to error code with all cases of domestic network that can meet Jazup.

Please, can you verify if your FTP service running and reboot your box and try again? Thanks.
I try to understand the problem you meet, Thanks.

Regards.

@Morphius_x,

Can you please tell me if:

- Do you Allow JaZUp to access your Azbox in telnet and FTP when prompted by Windows Security screen? Sounds to me like your local PC Firewall prevent JaZUp to iniate the FTP session.

If you are sure that it is not your PC Firewall that prevent JaZUp from doing a FTP, can you please answer the following questions:

- Is hardware acceleration enable on your Azbox?
- Do you use a plugin like: Priority Manager? Or any other special plugins? If so please specify.
- Do you have a password set on your Azbox? Is it a simple password (like the standard one: azbox) or a complex one with special characters in it? Or may be do you disable any password on your Azbox?
Can you please try with resetting the password to azbox.

- How is your Azbox connected to the network: wired or WiFi?
- Do you have some kind of Firewall between your Pc and your Azbox?
- Or do you have a router between then?

I am really interested in reproducing the bug that you mention.

I should mention hardware is premium + HD.
I have two network interfaces on AZbox. Normally use wireless but ethernet was plugged in and not used. I started the process on the wireless interface IP address 192.168.1.16. After reboot into recover mode the box picked up ip address 192.168.1.15.
The upgrade path was from original firmware to E2 and the first part (load E2 kernel was successful)
Log from from first attempt (when kernel was upgraded) is below

Hello,

Are you sure that you don't have another Firewall running on your PC (build-in in your Antivirus for example), because the only way that we find to reproduce your problem is to disallow access with JaZUp with FTP protocol.

Be carefull that Windows will ask you to grant access to JaZUp for telnet, and when needed Windows Firewall will again prompt you for FTP. So from the situation you describe, JaZUP is allowed on your PC to do telnet but not FTP.

The problem as you said pr2 was related with the Firewall.

Had created a conflict of permissions.

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback, we were quite sure that it was not a JaZUp 2 problem, because we widely test JaZUp 2 before releasing it.
And the only way to reproduce your problem was to block it with a Firewall. ;-)
