Hi there,
Although I think there is nothing wrong with my wonderful Spiderbox HD 9000 HD, I am postingin this section in case someone has had a similar issue:
I have a motorized 4 LNB 80c dish.
I used it for years with an HDCI2000.
I got a Spiderbox 9000 HD a few months ago and wow! Marvellous!
Thanks Darkman and everybody else involved.
I hear today there are even more bonus channels!

Now, my problem:

This morning I noticed I was not getting any signal from Nova and other sats, but 19.2 and other sats worked OK.

I changed sats to movee th dish to Canal Digital, to Hispasat... just to move it to see if that would cure some small misalignment...

I then noticed the dish was not moving in a continuous way but sort of jerky... and then it stopped. No signal.

I also noticed that I could not see the green led in the motor itself.

I have tried swithcing on and off at the back, even unplugging the box... no luck.

I even reconected my old HDCI 2000: same problem.

Although both boxes say "motor moving to..." when I change sats, there is no actual dish/motor movement nor sound.

And I cannot see the green led.

Any suggestions?

I read somewhere in this forum that I can go up a ladder and insert a pin somewhere in the motor to reset it... I cannot do it, no ladder.

Is there a way of remotely resetting the motor through the Spidebox 9000 HD, assuming there is still some life in the motor?

Thank you very much indeed.

Do you mean you have a Quad LNB on try disconecting the lnb wire as I have found that sometimes it draws to much current so the dish does not move also go to motor setting and disable limits just in case

Hi satpaul,

Yes, sorry, quad LNB.

I have disconnected the wire that goes to the spiderbox. The other 3 are not currently connected. And I connected it to the HDCI and then again to the spiderbox but no luck.
I hope we are talking about (one of) the cable(s) that goes from the dish to the box.

I did try removing limits and centering... but nothing. The dish does not move. The motor does not make any sound and there is no green led in the motor.

Thanks.

How to reset your motor using your spiderbox remote control

Menu >
motor settings >
go to command >
scroll to go to centre
Press Ok
Message will be displayed as Command executed

If that Fails to work change from USALS to DISEQC and repeat the same procedure above

Hi compass,
I had already tried going to centre as I had read your suggestion in another thread. But I only tried it, unsuccesfully, in USALS.
I will now try also in Diseq, as soon as the misssus frees the TV.
I hope it works.
Thank you very much indeed for your continuos support and for this reply.

Hello again,

I just tried go to center and limit off in both USALs, Diseq, and USALS again. Still No signal, no noise, no movement, no green led.
Any other ideas?
THANKS!

TBH its likely to be one of two things, a faulty cable or a faulty motor, either of which is only fixable by physically getting up to the dish/motor assembly and you have already said you don't have a ladder.

I say this because you have previously said its the same with two different receivers, therefore it cant be the receiver at fault.

I have had a similar problem a few times which was resolved by using the reset switch in the motor at least once but on other occasions it has meant a new motor I'm afraid.

i thought the current was cut to the lnb when the motor was moving can't see how the type of lnb would matter

Hi satpaul, satwyn...

Thaks for the info.

The motor has worked fine, with the same quad LNB, for the last five years or so... Maybe it is too old and needs a replacement.
But I will certainly tell the installer to try and reset it inserting a pin somewhere in the motor, and also to disconnect (and I guess, connect again) the wire from the LNB to the motor.
Thanks for the continuous support in this forum.

Hi there,
Here is an update.
The installer came. First he managed to reset the motor going up his long lader and inserting a toothpick!
Things were not perfect though.
The LNB was only getting the Horizontal channels (or maybe it was the other way round).
Anyway, he replaced the LNB... in the end we decided it would be worth also replacing the motor.
Everything is fine now.
Thank you all for your help.

I had a similar prob ages ago.It turned out to be an F connector at the motor was lose on the earth shield and had burnt away the shield. It is very important to get a tight connection on the cable because the motors draw high amps when moving.

yes the connectors can cause problems but not capable of high amps with the diseqc system
