my new PC does not have a serial port, and i was thinking of buying a null serial leads to have in case of emergancy, any body know what is available that works. thanks

What works depends on your operating system not many work with vista less with vista 64bit.

Yuo - Stick with oldfarts answer. I have really bashed mine over the last eight months learning all about it with lots of help from the guys here, and touch wood my experience is that it is very patient and seems quite unlike the temperamental glitsches of the early 7000 series. Web flashing is easy, but dont leave wi-fi on when you are using a crossover lead. If box is connected to router though you can use wi-fi. Good Luck - Brain

You can use a usb to serial cable. That is how I used to program boxes from my laptop.

why do you think i ask the question mate?i didn't only look in there but bought one as well wich did not came with the driver so it dosen't work..

@quailman thank you mate but i think my usb is foulty because after downloading the driver got message the usb has moilfuction or somthing like that....but thanks any way mate..

Alot of the usb serial cables on the cheap end wont work with anything after xp.

Prolific drivers will only work for prolific chipsets. The same way windows drivers work for windows machines, linux drivers for linux machines and so on.
