HDMI v Component

Hi

the hdmi connector on my plus has become faulty (nothing on screen) and at the moment going to be quite costly to repair.

so can someone tell me how does component compare to hdmi PQ wise, because if it's comparable then this would be a better option, just better add my compo cable is faulty as well (yeah i know) so i've got to buy another one hence the reason for my enquiry.

There should be no distinguishable difference PQ wise but you will have to use a seperate audio connection if you use YPbPr.

I use YPbPr exclusively as I have my audio via my stereo system for best audio quality

You will, however, notice colour augmentation with YPbPr if your using PLi or the new Vix Image. This can be addressed with a few little config tweaks.

got the component working, for the life of me i could not get the VIX 2.1 to work properly picture was always magenta tried every setting i could on bot hthe tv and the image.

so installed BH 1.4.6 worked straight away.

so dixons, whats these config tweaks i need to perform on other images, 'cos i tried everything......Errrrr at least i think i did:D

when Vix image is loaded First you need to change the scart settings. Menu > Setup > System > A/V Settings. Change output to Scart then colour format to YPbPr then press Green button to confirm settings

Now go back into A/V settings and set Video output to YPbPr. then press green button to confirm

Thats it

Your done

Perfect picture in latest Vix image with no Magenta haze ;)
