So, testing the usb-seriell recovery but Putty just writes strange letters and symbols.

Canīt read a word:smash:

What could be the problem ? Anyone knows ?

Tested a few settings but always the very same "language"

Try typing AZ Putty in the search function M8y (at the top of the page).
there is loads of stuff that comes up for the putty problem.

Good idea Paul, been reading for a while but never found anyone facing the problem with the crypted text:respect-055:

Think Putty is too Linux so I will test a few more programs.

Thankīs for taking Your time to answer !:respect-054:

You might try minicom,
that is mentioned by stevie1961,in one of the posts.

i feel sure that its just a comm problem, from what ive read / remember, over the last few months.
Putty wont do the job,but really need one of the members who have succesfully
fixed it,to enlighten you the correct soft/method to use.

Best of luck

2 reasons:

1 - Connect RC to TC
2 - Your usb2serial isn't ttl

I have com 8 and 115200
Read somewhere that it was better to have a high comport so I choosed the first that was free over the suggested com3.

What interface do you have?

It looks like it's communicating. Do you get this exact screen every time or does it vary? Does this screen come up after you press Ctrl+c?

Best regards!

Yes, it is the same every time, even tested a few more seriell com programs, same problem. In Putty there is no contact with the dos box so control C wonīt work - I tried a few times. They do talk, the interface is a ready built seriell to USB cable and it is working fine. Perhaps the interface should be connected the other way using this interface ? Tx to Tx ? perhaps time to test, heating up the soldering tool.

Look strange, does it not ?

Try the cable in this thread (https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showpost.php?p=783166&postcount=28). I'm sure this will work perfectly.

Normally when you connect the usb cable. The pc will install the driver and assign a com port. In device manager you must check what com port it is and use putty with that port. Serial port set up with no flow control

The cable your using is 5V+ ttl level or only usb2->serial? Because it sounds like it's a cable problem, since it display the same every time. rx->tx, tx->rx gnd->gnd or it will not work.

BTW. have you read this thread: https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthread.php?t=141544

Hi,

The characters that you get come from a wrong port setting on the COM port interface (physical or virtual), fix it in Windows and you will see that it will work.

Yep, started PuTTy first time and the cable was assigned com3 so I changed that to com8. Perhaps something woring there with the settings. I will re-check and try the c3 as suggested by Win. Read that it could (also) be a problem with the installed Latin kayboard so I think I will test uni as well. Still it is a HOBBY lol so I like this trying and testing.
Thankīs all for Your input. ;akes the hobby even more fun !
