heres the struckies in PDF use the chart to determine the inclination for your mount by going to dishpointer.com and put marker on your dish site and that will show you your long/lat ,

I know where true south is,
no problem mate,ok you need to move the whole lot round to true south with your mount east -west dial on zero and mount dish all inline, then set your elevation angle and dish elevation angle A and B in the manual, make sure your pole is 100% verticle it is relitively simple i always find it harder to explain than do lol
so as an example my site lat is 52° ,so its 38° on motor bracket and 22.5° on dish bracket
mmg123

set your mount inclination WHAT:eek:, Will have a good read of the manual you have kindly posted And go on roof in morning, will post back Thank you once again, Happy Easter to you.:cheers2:

I have used dishpointer arold, my question was which is my most southern sat base on my longitude and latitude
mmg123
25-04-2011, 07:07 AM
Motor bracket when setting this do you set it on the latitude side of bracket or elevation side of bracket
simon 2003
25-04-2011, 11:18 AM
like i told you yesterday the elevation side mate ,its there in the instructions for motor i sent you too,"A" is the mount bracket elevation,"B" is the deinclination on the dish, you had that right yesterday, you need to study the instructions
mmg123
25-04-2011, 12:52 PM
simon i have set bracket on motor 55 on latitude side of bracket not the elevation side is that right.

simon i have set bracket on motor 55 on latitude side of bracket not the elevation side is that right.
yes mate if your sites lat is 35,its 55 on motor , A in the diagram in the struckies i attached in this thread,,"B" is bracket on dish 24.4 for your lat ,you had this yesterday cock on,as i told you if you can get a sig on 33e your well on the way,if not just move it to the right (standing behind dish)from 39e about 5 inches and tighten bolts a couple of turns and then try at receiver as will be close ,
mmg123
26-04-2011, 10:59 AM
Ok this is what i have done,
Fixed mount to floor 100% vertical
ALL THE BELOW SETTINGS ARE ACCORDING TO MY LATITUDE FROM DISHPOINTER
Set bracket on motor to 55 on the latitude side of bracket scale
Found magnectic south with a ***poss and mounted motor true south
set elevation to 24. and a midges dick on dish bracket
MOUNTED DISH ON CENTRE LINE OF MOTOR POLE
Sent the dish all the way WEST AND EAST then brought it back to 0 and press reset button.
I have a humax 5400 with tarian motor settings in for Hellas 39e Astra 19e Hotbird 13e I have also changed setting to the latest Humax sat Au settings 75E- 30W .
I have found nothing only 45% signal on all sats The receiver is moveing the dish.
I have had signal meter on aswell and moved all the lot round pole Nothing.
I have loosened elevation bracket on dish and tilted it up and down Nothing.
I HAVE TOOK IT ALL TO BITS 3 TIMES AND REDONE AND CHECKED EVERYTHING. FOOK KNOWS WHATS UP AT ALL I AM GETTING ABIT ****** OFF NOW Does anybody know what i might of over looked or done wrong my legs are down to stumps keep going up and down two flights of steps on to the:puke: roof

I have just been thinking, i have the cable from the receiver on the meter and the cable from the lnb to the lnb side of meter
Am i doing this wrong to pick up a signal.
Can this be done cable from receiver to receiver side of meter then a short cable from lnb side of meter to motor is that how it should be done on a motor setup.
simon 2003
26-04-2011, 12:02 PM
find 39 e as you know where that is then you have a start point, put an active freq in for 33e (from lyng ,or king)and try and find that,a few inches to the right and dish up a fraction
mmg123
26-04-2011, 12:37 PM
I have tried that simon nothing What i want to know is cables from receiver to meter and lnb lead on then nothing attached to motor and settings in recever because it wont be on discq in receiver it will be on motor enabled ????? I HAVE TRIED IT BOTH WAYS with settings motor disabled, and i still got nothing.
Has above thats what i have done so far Everything is set right infact i have just checked again fior the 5th time.
It,s not because it,s a 1.2m dish is it all setting are the same are they regardless of size?

Forget about settings.
You need to setup the motor in the centre to receive the 33 degrees satellite.
You need to manual have a strong frequency for that.
Once you have signal on that sat, then move the motor manually with remote to the left side.
When i say left side, i mean the lnb facing the left side as from behind the dish.
While moving it that way you should find hellasat, the signal will not be optimum.
Then move the whole motor bracket little bit to the left also ( the centre was 33 deg now moving it to 34-35 which is the correct south for you ).
You keep moving it slowly slowly till you get the maximum signal and quality and mark the place for it.
Connect the cable from lnb to the signal meter, then from that to the motor, and from motor to receiver.
If its meter with needle, adjust the sensitivity of it not to be very sensitive.
A trick is to have the dish pointing nowhere, all the cables connected, and adjust the needle to be in the middle of the screen level.
This way you know once you have some signal coming around the dish position, the needle will move.
Also, forget about elevation, you will find it when you adjust the dish on 33.
And does the motor says latitude and you put 55?When it says latitude you must put the correct latitude,35 ...

Thank you snakie,
My motor is a digi power sg2100a its got elevation scale on one side and latitude on the other, has you know my latitude is 35 so are you saying i set it to 35 on latitude scale on bracket, just confirming this because i am getting nowhere at all only wearing the stairs out and my legs, and its just the manual says set 55.
Also i am not understanding,
Connect the cable from lnb to the signal meter,
Connect the cable from lnb to meter yes got that
then from that to the motor, and from motor to receiver. I dont get that it needs power from receiver ( So i have cable coming from receiver too the motor, how do i plug that in to the meter at the same time )
mmg123
26-04-2011, 02:48 PM
I have reset motor bracket to 35 on the latitude side, I now have 60% signal thats dish recentered aswell aim at eurobird 33e freq 11170 H SR27337 fec 2/4 TRT MUZIK Channel But i have no quality Thats were i am upto so farI am still confused has to cables to meter bit, when meter needs cable from the receiver for power.
simon 2003
26-04-2011, 03:59 PM
60% thats a start can you not tweak it a bit to get quali,,i did say sunday about setting your motor mount to the relevant scale they usually have different markings each side of bracket, ref the meter ,the cable comes from the rec to the "rec in" on your meter then a fly lead from lnb to LNB IN" or whatever ,it should work forget the mount until you find south, that should be all in line, dish mount bracket, with it on 0 on the mount e>w,make adjustment at dish for ele and east>west swinging the whole lot
snakie
26-04-2011, 09:55 PM
ok mmg123, thats a good sign.try to move dish little up or down, slowly slowly to see if you have some quality coming in.
You must know that a 1.2mtr dish is more sensitive on adjusting the central beam rather than an 80cm.
Till you get quality on that satellite, dont move to other sats or try to make other things.
Thats your number1 job now..
mmg123
27-04-2011, 05:42 AM
Within 30 mins of reading what you posted snakie. I did it found hellas no problem 62% signal 60% quality,
It was that bracket problem again, i had it set to 55 on the latitude side and not 35, it now reads 35 on latitude scale, 55 on elevation scale, PERFECT.
Had to leave at that lastnight, so its left centred on hellas at the moment, will try centre it on 33e 11169 H SR27340 FEC 2/3 later after work today, yea back to work Hope you had a nice easter, AND that go,s for everybody on here.

PS BLOODY BRACKETS,
I also figured out, cable to meter bit you said, i was abit scared of doing it wrong and putting it on the rec side of meter going back into motors lnb port, I just wasn,t sure at all.

OK
Had a few days off the job, back at it, I put 11169 freq eurobird 33e so i beleive is a fta and got nothing I can only pick up ******* 42e and hellas 39e no other sats at all I think the motor is centered on Hellas because i couldnt get anything on the 11169 feq it picked up hellas first. 62% signal 60% quality Tried move motor with remote got tuksat 100% signal 99% quality.
DONT KNOW WHY I CANT GET ANY OTHER SATS.
mmg123
04-05-2011, 07:13 AM
Ps I have put another receiver on its a humax ir fox, I have reset it factory defaults put the 11169 freq in that nothing only picking up ******* 42e 100% sig 99% qual has my strongest signal all the time. so i cant get my motor to zero and centre 33e on pole which is correct south for me. errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
snakie
04-05-2011, 11:41 AM
errr....reset the motor ,maybe by mistake you added software limits for east and west, and dont let it go to correct positions.
mmg123
04-05-2011, 02:44 PM
Thanks Snakie,
I have settings maker i have done settings for just eurobird 33e shall i send that to humax and try tune to that at 0 position then reset you mean.
Send it to zero press reset button, Send eurobird settings to humax, and try tune to that yea.

@mmg123
I have installed my first motor a few days back, stressed a bit until i understand what i was doing Wrong !
I have used my gps to know my Location, on gps i had this :
N 47° 19,257 - W 1° 54,429
Point Dish to True South
Now on Motor manual, page 7 (Table), i have choosed Longitude 47, and with the table i get for 47 : Elevation (Motor) 43 - Dish Bracket angle = 23 (take a look on the photos).
Put the Motor on 0°, go to service searching on receiver and entered : Longitude W 001.544 - Latitude N 047.192 and Saved
Go to Satfinder on receiver, Now choose a frequency on Thor 0,8 : 11727 V 28000 7/8 and Just "Moved" Both motor and dish until you get a "LOCK" on receiver.
Now you can "fine" tune, by playing with dish angle !
Tested this method on 3 receivers, all 100% working
Good Luck

passete thank you for your post,
I cant enter longitude and latitude in the humax 5400 i am useing, and on my digipower sg2100a motor i put my exact latitude on the latitude scale on bracket.

04-05-2011, 11:44 PM
in the northen hemisphere 1W is the southerly satellite, you cant change that ! unless one starts up at 0 degrees.
mmg123
05-05-2011, 03:36 AM
Does that go for where you live anywhere in the world.
mmg123
05-05-2011, 03:42 AM
I can t imput my longitude and latitude in this humax 5400z receiver.
snakie
05-05-2011, 01:40 PM
mmg, longitude and latitude in the receiver are used in case USALS is used.
You can use Diseqc 1.2 and move dish left and right to find the satellite positions and then save them.
For example selecting Go to 0 or Go to home , it will drive the motor to the center, that means position 0 on motor which of course is your south.
mmg123
06-05-2011, 03:51 PM
Snakie i have done this and got eurobird 33 east The signal only came in with dish elevation at 28 degrees, the motor was zeroed and reset, i stored the position too in receiver just to make sure that it was my start point at zero, I have marked position on the pole, I moved with remote to the lefted has you stated and got hellasat too,The signal at 33e is 57% signal 25% quality, with picture on tv ok, hellasat 39e 62% signal 98% quality, I have tried to move from east to west going to other sats with remote in both user and installer mode signals go up and down on them 100% astra 19e but get no qualitiy at all to lock on to any of them, IF i now try to bring the elavation down to 24 has it states for my longitude and latitude i lose everything.( I dont know what to do from here now)
snakie
06-05-2011, 04:34 PM
So the motor is actually moving left and right across the arc but you dont get any signal?
mmg123
06-05-2011, 05:24 PM
Yes snakie i get signals, its just not coming up with the quality to lock on to the sat positions. ? the 28 degrees elevation on dish gets me, when it states 24 and i have had it at 24 26 and on 26 i got turk sat and hellas 100% ******* 89% hellas locked both with great quality too, its weird to put it upto 28 and get my 33e position, 24 25 26 27(28)AND I GET 33E.
mmg123
06-05-2011, 05:34 PM
ps, This is the dish i had fixed trying to get hellas remember, i can pin point hellas now to this blade of grass in the feild here were i am, this dish is a 1.2m from carrfore i bought it about i would say 5 years ago, i think the suns turned the bracket bolts into rubber. lol
snakie
07-05-2011, 05:11 AM
that means your motor is not in right position.
Remember that once you get 33,you must turn the whole motor little to the left, just to loose reception from 33.
So by moving it to the left should face 34-35 which is the correct south.
Then try again Hellasat.Normally you should get quality of 90-100% on some transponders.
Dont care about signal.
mmg123
07-05-2011, 06:56 AM
Thank you, Snakie
I will try it later and post back, So far following your advise is working out for me, I think i am trying to hard and and getting confused looking at things. Also i was 5 foot nine and a half tall when i started doing this, now i am 5ft, and the steps are abit worn out in the building. (All for a better selection of tv veiwing.)
mmg123
07-05-2011, 07:03 AM
oh, snakie
The elevation at 28 degrees should i leave it at that, or try tweak it down with the meter on.
snakie
07-05-2011, 11:11 AM
I never look at the degrees, except the one for motor elevation, which is actually 90 minus your lattitude.
So on the motor scale you either have lattitude or you have elevation (90-34 for cyp).
Forget about the rest of maths, just play with the dish and frequencies to get quality.
1 last thing,as i said earlier,its easier to fix the arc with a smaller dish , 80cm.
Then you can replace it with the bigger one without touching the motor at all.
mmg123
16-05-2011, 05:49 AM
Snakie,
I have finally do it, thank you for all your help, i extended my mount higher with a new 2ft pole so i had better movement up and down the pole, got all good signals and quality on all sats, dish elevation i just tweaked it down a notch to 27,
Thanks also to everybody for your help comments and pacients with me. :bowing-036: :cheers2::respect-051:

yes, i will ??? can you see i have painted it all with a chrome aerosol to reflect the sun.
you want a matt finish on your dish as you dont want to reflect the sun onto your lnb as said you will fry it,if this was best practice they would come from manufacturer chromed
