Iphone or android ?

Hi, my phone contracts coming to an end and I fancy a change from a blackberry 9700. Mate of mine have just got the iphone 4 and it looks pretty good but I have also been told that the android phones are pretty good as well.
What do you think ?

There are four million different Android devices. Giving you the chance to pick cheap or expensive. Large screen or small. 3G or 4G. etc etc etc.

There is one Iphone letting you pick white or not white.

I have the BB 9700 (BB OS 5), iPhone4 (iOS 4.3.2) , and HTC Desire (Android 2.2 / Sense), plus Orange San Francisco / AKA ZTE Blade (Android 2.2 / Launcher Pro / Regina Launcher)


Blackberry = corporate lock in
iPhone = expensive / locked down, however what is available works (and well)
Android = cheap with lots of customisation, however there is a a lot of dross so beware

If you have the money, don't kid yourself, the iPhone is by far the best end user experience.

HTC Desire for me. 100s of free apps for almost all needs.

I hate locked in systems such as the iPhone but I have my concerns about Google (Android) too.

Had a good look at my m8's iphone and it is very nice, even with my sausage fingers it worked really well. I will have a walk up town and have a look at a android phone and see what they are like.
I like my blackberry but it looked rather primitive and slow compared to the iphone, but it is a very secure phone if you password protect it. How secure are these iphones and androids as i use paypal, **** on my blackberry and i would rather not have anyone else do there shopping at my expense.

On the Desire you can set a 4 digit unlock code (10,000 possibilities) but I suppose anything can be unlocked.

i have chunky fingers and it is still easy to use and navigate
for me the problem with the i phone was cost

the problem with the galaxy s is no flash

this is the s2 dual core 1.2ghz processor

Android is the future.

Apple is too much of a closed market, and way too expensive for what you get.

This is a weird thing with the HTC Desire.

The in built browser supports flash vids but I also have Firefox and Opera and they always say, "cannot open flash, wrong file, please visit ??? to get plug-in " - or something similar.

Then it comes back and says "no plug-in available for this phone". So I guess HTC are using a non-Adobe flash player.

tried the lot...simple iPhone works out of the box...no messing around...then if ye wish jailbreak and unlock it...10min job (but beware that the unlock will leave you wish no option but to use modified firmware!) or you can request an unlock from provider!

OK m8s here is my pennies worth. Both of my sons have Iphones 3g 32 gb and why Dad did you get a Desire S just over a week ago now, well the S has all the quality of the original Desire but now has Android 2.3.3 plus a high quality metal shell. Also as its apps run under Java which should ok to program new ones.
