Nope. I have a 240 channel master dish near Wigan and can only get a few H transponders on the limit. If it rains like it does in Lancashire then no chance. You need to be looking at 3 meters.

does anyone know if fortec star do a 3 metre?

that's what i thought but some are claiming h transpondere in the midlands with andrews 1.8m as for the fortec 3m i think not but don't quote me get yourself a nice elite antenas 3.7m spun alloy if you have the wonga

just checked fortec star homepage & the max size they do is 2.4 , channel master /andrews £1000 for a 1.8m!!!!!

satwyn

well £1000 is too steep you just missed one on e bay for £140+ with polar mount try elite antenas for a 3m prime focus spun alloy dish i don't know the price but i personally would not pay anything like £1000 for the 1.8m andrews not even for the 2.4m

yes they are top quality dishes but you will need to discuss polar mount options with them the dishes come with az/el mounts fixed not really what you need unless you only need 7w also consider 25e if you are after p league football again 3m+ dish needed for reception for football i had to make my own polar mount adaptor to fit the 1.8m precision dish now elite antenas

i've got a channel master 1.8, i'm in Stoke on Trent,i can receive "on a clear day, during the day " a hell of a lot of the H transponders,WITH A LOT BETTER SIGNAL STRENGTH AT NIGHT but grantted NOT all of the H's on there.
(the signal strength is only in the 35/40 % range, but its enough to give a stable picture)

I've also got ready a channel master 2.4 which was too good an offer not to buy, (new) still waiting to be put in the place of my 1.8, but its gettin the time to do it.
On a side note, on a clear day the 1.8 will pick a couple of middle east beams up on 25.5, but not many. !

looks like the elite antennas could be out of my price range , so heres thr big question does anybody think a 2.4m fortec star would give same performance as a channel master 1.8m? , would love a channel master 1.8 or 2.4 but nothing on e bay yet

satwyn

i would not go for the fortec probably your best option would be the channel master 2.4m as for the fortec giving same performance as the cm 1.8m without having the two side by side i would not know me personally would wait for something better did you get a price off elite antenas for the 2.4-3m dishes

just had a check at 1pm and on 7w 11958H is coming in at 32% and 11996H is coming in at 38% strength, with clouds in the sky

DON'T DO IMPULSE, thats one of my downfalls, my cm 1.8 is great, i've got it set up smack on, (so i think) currently getting 11766 H on 7W,( fox movies coming through17.25 uk time) at 38/40 %,(with clouds), a little unstable, really need 42% to geta stable picture on this transponder.
I'm going to be changing it to a channel master 2.4 shortly,as i feel i can get more from a bigger dish (plus i've already brought it 6 months ago), the reason i haven't changed it as yet is, i've had a bracket made, as i want it to be motorised, !! PLUS would i be able to get it set up as good as my 1.8, as that took a lot of hair pulling out to get the set up right.
ALL in ALL ..... i'd recommend a "CHANNEL MASTER" dish.

wozer m8 don't get your hopes up that you will able to pickup H transponders with a 180cm or 240cm channel master dish just because TJ can in Stoke. You would not believe how just 50 miles North can make a big difference.

If you can give us a clue to which Town you live near then it might help.

I also have matched channel master feed with a invacom c120 flange on mine and I still could only get a couple of H transponders, if I remember rightly the weakest transponder on 7.0w is the one which carries sky news.

I agree, with you there Keano, altho i can receive a lot of H's , there are still some i can't, obviously the middle east beams are a no ago with a 1.8 , but even some of the Egypt (H), are a no go, PLUS YOUR LOCATION FROM ME HERE IN STOKE TO WHERE YOU ARE WILL MAKE A MASSIVE DIFFERANCE

Forget that sky news thing, just had a look and its now on V beam.

The weakest transponder on 7.0w ( or at least it was before I took my dish down ) is 11804H.

wozer can we ask why you so keen on 7.0w ? Its just that EPL is on Atlantic Bird 4 at 7.2w and this is no chance in UK and OSN have new card system in place so no nudge nudge wink wink will work, so unless you are from a Arabic Country I am a bit lost.

No m8, forget 7.2w in the UK, not poss. I don't know of any member on here in the UK who can pickup 7.2w.

Just had a look at Lyngsat and if you are after ADMC Sport then this is now on Nilesat201.

This is a new bird that went up a few months ago, you will need to ask TJ if he can get anything from 12092V 27500 5/6. I took my dish down once Showtime lost the EPL.

Maybe it was another one then, as it has just the AZ/EL mount with it, and a 4.5" patio stand.

Cheapest I can get a polar mount for is £419, ouch!?

you can use the polar mount used on the 1.2m channel master with an adaptor plate but i would personally only use in sheltered locations also if you look on e bay there is a 1.6m channel master for sale complete with polar mount this is a prime focus type but the mount should be ok for your dish i also had problems with a polar mount for my 1.8m precision dish no polar mount available but i managed to adapt another polar mount to fit
