I do not know if you have the same DVB-T as in Italy, the Netherlands
If yes, then it can all with DVB-T USB tuner/stick and Black Hole image.

You can read/ask more here > ***.vuplus-community.net

I have a Vu Duo with a WinTV Nova T (70019) and Black Hole Image. It picks up the 7 Day DTT EPG and yes you can certainly record one channel and watch another. RTE2 is now broadcasting in HD.

Do you need to plug the antenna cable in to the Win stick.
I beleive one of the the Elgato USB's also work but I am not sure which one.
Thanks

Hi Pedigree
You need to plug the antenna in to the USB Stick to receive a signal. The Nova-T came with a small antenna. I am using a loft aerial as the signal would sometimes break up with the small antenna. It may be ok for you. As Matrix10 suggested check out the list of support devices at Vuplus-community.net.

@mickb

I'm thinking of buying one of these (WinTV Nova T) for my VU+ Duo here in Spain . Can you explain how you install the drivers etc ?

and with the Irish DTT does the program info function work, ie select prog press info and get a brief synopsis.

i was going to get the duo but then mention was made of one with a triple tuner, ultimo !!!

a few screen shots of dtt would be nice if you can please.

@ssjenkins

The drivers are installed via the Blackhole image. Press the blue key twice and scroll down to the USB Tuner Panel. Select your USB Tuner install driver and enable. (The VU Duo must be connected to the internet for download of driver at this time.) The Vu Duo will reboot and you will then have another tuner enabled. Change your DVB-T settings to suit Europe or whatever your location and then you can scan for your channels. It will update the channels whenever a new one is added.

Does this support HD as well. I suppose I mean is there a USB tuner that supports HD freeview at the moment?

@gbmitie

EPG Summaries are good. Plenty of information.

@bonovox

HD Supported. I think its the Vu Duo rather than the USB tuner.

Sadly the new digital teletext is not available.

Just an update something has changed with the EPG on Saorview. The EPG is now missing entries when used with Vu Duo and Nova T. As a workaround I am using aliases with crossepg.

The EPG is now fixed and back to the way it was. There are no gaps in the EPG schedule.

Can I just confirm this. If I were to buy this - _http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/site/products/data_novatstick.html
I would be able to pick up the HD freeview channels as well? Just a little unsure whether I need the HD version of the USB stick as I think this is just a SD version.

Yeah bought one of these but I can't get the HD channels working on it. Everything else comes in fine. So I've no idea whether the UK has a different HD format to Ireland but it doesn't seem to work for me.

Yeah done a bit more checking and I don't think there is any support yet for freeview hd via a usb stick tuner in the UK. The UK use DVB-T2 for the HD channels on freeview. Europe use DVB-T for there HD broadcasts. I think this is right. Can anyone confirm or has anyone tried to get a USB tuner to work for the HD channels on Freeview in the UK.
