I am trying to burn a DVD from my 8000 HDD. It was recorded from BBC HD channel. I get message:
The DVD standard doesn't support H.264 (HDTV) video streams.
Do you want to create a Dreambox format data DVD (which will not play in stand-alone DVD players) instead.
As I want to send the DVD to friends in Australia I need it to play on a standard player.
What is the best way around this ?

hmmm, can you take the files onto your PC then use a free (for 30 days) tool to convert to MPG?

I dont think you can get away without reconverting file format and a PC will be best for this.

most of the paid (30 day trial) dvd burning apps out there have the feature i think you are looking for (which is to put your h.264 files onto a DVD to play with a standard DVD player)

another alternative is

or just google "h.264 to dvd converter" - loads of results / options.

good luck!
