CRT's were glass screens, unfortunately for the manufacturers they lasted for 25 years !

You wont have that problem with lcd's.

LCD a clearer picture? no ghosting?
when was the last time you checked out a plasma, and i mean a good one? 1994?

I have a 46" Panasonic plasma, and my brother in-law has a samsung lcd, on std tv and HD, even he agrees the panasonic plasma is streets ahead. . .

I have mine about a yr and a half. . . and even when i was looking i was like which is better, you take a walk in to any show room, yes, most tvs all look good. but i noticed a few things,
each tv has HD transmitted in to them, but the most important thing is that tvs have a dynamic setting for show rooms, and makes it all the more better, like a red bulb in a meet counter if u know what i mean. . .

now that i have my plasma for over a yr, i just pitty the people who think a lcd is better. . . that just my opinion. somepeople just cannot see that LCD lags and is blocky on fast moving images

i will say that the smaller the tv gets, the better the lcd seems to be . . but anything over 36" id go plasma again any day. . .

my one, €1,499 and worth every penny. .

Stick to what you know keith (satellites -no football-no tv's-no)as said decent plasma far superior to any LCD,even a top end LCD cannot get near the black levels of a decent plasma, its LCD'S that are prone to ghosting-snaking on high speed sporting images and the like, only plus a LCD has is they are not as power consuming as a plasma ,makes a good rad in the winter though,no LCD could touch my 4yr old fujitsu 58 series

your opinion is as valid as anyones but the facts speak for themselves ,,goto AV forums read some reviews comparisons ect..,,,id never ever buy anything made by LG for a start, let alone an LG LCD,I didnt say there was juddering ON YOUR LCD ,but its LCD'S that are known for this not plasmas

Im not having a go at you, I believe what you say, in that you are very happy with what you have, its what we all live for, to be happy with our lot.

but we all know whats good for one may not be good for another.

i just think if you get in to a discussion with which is better plasma or lcd, just walk away. . . you can have an lcd, watch an lcd, but no human could or should never be able to say that an lcd is better, clearer, more vibrant for colours, more stable than a plasma. . .

im walking away now. . .

ps to op, that seems a good deal, assuming the specs are good, + a good brand.

You should Change the Thread Title.

LG don't make 42inch Plasma TV's and the link goes to a 42inch LCD TV.

My LG 50inch Plasma TV gives a fantastic picture. :D :D

I would not buy any other brand of TV except LG. :D

the only real way to choose a new tv is to go and look at it working in a show room .

two tv's with the same spec but different makes may look different to you .

your eyes are different and your preferences are different too .

see what you like in the real world then find that make / model as cheap as poss online .

good luck .

I has got 2 lgs lcds, a 26" and a 32", well pleased with both. and would certainly buy another lg. i also have a old plasma 42" tv a hyundai, that i use as a pc monitor. sometimes watch the occasional dvd through as well. when its on it certainly warms my little shack up.
