New Dish

I am going to replace my wall mounted 1m Channel Master dish with something lighter, as I have noticed a few cracked bricks in the area of the wall mount on side of house, but it has been there 13 years, and as the actuator reed switch has failed this seems like a good time to switch to a diseqc motor.

The dish will be an Orbital 1m, with a Superior Dark Diseqc motor mounted below gutter level

What is the best type of wall mount to get for use with a 1m dish?
The one piece L-shape type or some other type with 3 fixing points?

The Orbital wall mount is pretty good or use T&K's and a piece of scaffolding pole see pic :bravo-009:

The one piece "L" type is not a good idea as this localises the stress on the wall and it is more likely to fail. Also, do not mount within five courses of the top of the wall for the same reason. Three point fixing or "T&K" as suggested are your best options.

that depends on the length of the brackets you buy , so make sure they are longer than half the diameter of the dish , so say TK24 to give 20 inch clearance

I would also recommend using T-K brackets and scaffold pole compared to any other form of bracketry , with one of the worst being the L bracket

You should always fit the "K" at the top with the "T" fitted at least 12" below. If the wall is in good condition you could use wall anchors but I would recommend Multi-Montis as these are completely removeable.

Just an update to say that my new 1m Orbital dish is installed on 18inch T&K and is working very well. Still using the Fortecstar quad FSKU-4VN LNB that was on my Channel Master dish.

I can get most of the sats from 57E to 37.5W

These are the satellites I have manually scanned and found channels.

no sorry to say that is wrong
the k bracket goes at the bottom as thats the one that takes all the weight

if you have a wall say 5 feet hight and the k bracket goes at the top say 3 courses down its just the top 3 courses that are takeing all the weight

if the k bracket goes at the bottom say 1 foot from the bottom and the t goes at the top say 3 courses down 3 foot of the wall is taking the weight not 3 courses that is 9 inch


so I'm sorry to correct you its t bracket at the top
and the k bracket at the bottom
the more weight on top of the k bracket the stronger the fit
Ive been fitting aerials and satellite dishes now for over 30 years
but you are not on your own i know a lot of aerial fitter that put them up the wrong way round
i Evan went to a place that makes t and k brackets to make sure witch way round they go and Evan thay told me the correct way t at the top k at the bottom

Interesting post this,

Ive started putting the k-bracket at the top now,during last winter and the high winds we had,a couple of T-brackets rip from the wall with the pole and dish hanging from the bottom bracket (K)

Even searching around the web & google images ive seen T&K setup both ways.....

if not sure why not use two k brackets and like mine a t in the middle
