24 inch or 36 inch motor for 2 metre dish

Hi all
about to take delivery of my 2 metre dish , can anyone reccomend the best possible superjack 36v motor to use , is it a 24 inch or 36 inch , thanks in advance for any help you can give:respect-055:

2m,lucky dog,i had 2 wash up for 2 weeks to get a 1m
36" will give you the widest arc mate (presuming you got LOS on the southern sky) for the price difference be silly not to go with 36"

It depends on the mount used, but I was using a 12inch actuator with Channel Master 1M dish and CM elevation mount and easily got 45E to 45W.

I would of thought a 18inch or 24inch Superjack more than big enough.

i use 18inch on my precision 1.8m 60e-60w 24inch should be ok you can get heavy duty versions

mmmm well dish is going in my south facing back garden so will have an excellent line of sight , tempted to get a 36 inch but if its not worth the extra money?? then will go for the 24 inch .........come on guys i need help!!:beatdeadhorse5:

have used the precision dishes for years i use mine for both c and ku and hopefully ka as soon as i get my hands on a ka band lnb from america 2m precision dish now for sale on e bay with polar mount current price £3.50

Ive got a 2.3 m dish and use a 24 inch had it now over 15 years and still going strong
and it goes about 60 dg each way easy
if you fit the mount and dish look where the motor goes manually move the dish round to the east and measure the gap where the actuator fits then move it all round to the west and measure the gap again deduct the smaller measurement from the larger measurement and what is left is the measurement of the actuator

To reduce the load on the superjack motor when it is fully ectended, use a counter weight at the back of the dish. Few red bricks in a metal box well secured to the back of the dish normally works nicely. Your motor will last longer and the dish will be more stable.

A bigger superjack (24 inch) will last longer as it will not need to expand to its limit to cover the full clark belt.

I have a 1.8 Channel master and now use 36 inch heavy duty.
had a 24 inch before this one but the arm still suffered and got loose so now opted for the larger one which by the way does give a much better result.
I used to think thast the spider 9000hd was not efficient but now I know very different especcially on hard to get frequesncies/sats.

I Use 24" Heavy Actuator Arm on my 2 meter Prime focus dish i did previously have 36" heavy but it was not really needed the 24" Heavy is more than good enuff .
i get these sats regular in very good signals ...

on west side : 1w/5w/8w/12.5w/15w/22w/24.5w/27.5w/30w/43w

In my case I am in Malta so I bought over here, quite pricey as not easily availaible. Most probably you will get cheaper if you are in the UK (?)
