Yes, it's only the software that is patched - & every time you upgrade the software you'll have to patch it if you want to use a copied map - & will have to patch Tomtom Home aswell.

Are you using the original software & what version number is it ?
If you are using a version that is already patched you won't need to patch it. Any copied maps will need to be activated. It depends on what software version you are using if you want to use the v8xxx maps - have a look at my first post in this thread - I have already mentioned what will & won't work.

Albert's activation tool updated again today - the old one will not be able to connect to his server in @ 2 weeks, so get the new one - new link in first post.

Here's another map activation tool - not been able to test it myself yet, but it's supposed to be a simple to use one click tool, (latest m e t a is included) :-

which dll file do you patch on Tomtom Home

It depends on what version of home & what operating system you are using, you should find it in one of the following locations, & you'll probably have to set your PC to show hidden files and folders.

XP Users:
Home v1.x:-
C:\Do***ents and Settings\All Users\ApplicationData\TomTom\HOME \Navigator Dlls\

Home up to v2.1 :-
C:\Programfiles\TomTomHome2\xul\p lugins\emulator\navcore

Home v2.2 - x.x :-
C:\Do***ents and Settings\????\ApplicationData\Tom Tom\HOME\Profiles\????.default\ex tensions\Navcore.?.?????@tomtom.c om
---------------
Vista Users:-
C:\Users\???????\AppData\Roaming\ TomTom\HOME\Profi les\?????????.default\extensions\ Navcore.?.?????@tomtom.com
--------------
Mac Users:-
User's_Home/Library/ApplicationSupport/TomTomHOME/Profiles/????????.default/Resources/Extensions/Navcore.?.???.????.mac@tomtom.com/?-???- ????-/.framework

Have you tried to use the 'Operate My Tomtom' in Tomtom Home ? - When you try to use this function it will want to download a new file - let it do this and then shut down Home. Should be able to find the folder then.

With the v7.903 firmware you can use the latest v825.2159 map - you will need to patch the ttsystem file on your Tomtom & also activate the map - all you need is in the first post here.

Set your keyboard to QWERTY & use small letters.
You need to patch Tomtom home - use Albert's activation tool - step 6 - Patch Tomtom home DLL

Ive followed the guide to the letter to try and update my 510 and used the Navcore v8.204 with maps from the rapidshare in the first post but there isnt any maps with it according to Albert's Activation Tool v0.57.21, so Ive downloaded a UK & RoI v845.2645 map and put them into the zip folder and gone though the steps in Albert's Activation Tool and its acivated the maps but when i put the sd card into my tomtom510(i use a card reader to transfer files) it says no maps

where the link for the maps are it says
; United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ir eland_845_2645
88 4B 9B 51 18 93 7E 19 AE 8A 24 1F 96 8F 97 25 United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ir eland-132.me ta

(remove the space in ME TA & also in Ir eland)

i dont know what this means is this where im going wrong

The map files will all be in a folder named " UK_and_RoI_845.2645 " - put this folder in the root of your memory card - NOT in any other folder.

Here's a copy of the latest me ta file if you still need it :-

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2FV5U6AK
Unzip it & put it into the folder with the activation tool on your PC.

I have a One XL (bought shortly after they first came out), Home 2 software (just updated) and on XP. I use a memory card with UK and Ireland and also USA maps.

Can I use the Navcore you link to in the original post for my machine, do I just follow the steps to update my One XL or are they just for the GO?

Thanks

You should be able to use that v8.204 navcore - make sure you have got a full back up copy before you delete everything from your Tomtom. You will have to use your original images for the start up screen (splash), antitheft & lowbattery as they are a different size to the Go500.
Then add map folders - (can use the v845.2645 map) & v845 posctode file and activate the map.

Thanks for the reply, is it worth using a newer version of navcore, will a later version give me anything v8.204 won`t?

Russell1

I've got a newer official version on my new Go730, but I stayed with v8.204 on my old Go500 as I never had any problems with it. Keep a back up copy & try a new version if you want, but don't think there's anything different that will work on the old units.

I don`t get the thin line but I also had a problem with the voices. I copied over all voices from my old backup and that got Jane working :applause-003: but I guess the computer voice is new so that hasn`t worked for me.

Hi Bud cheers for the guide I used it to great effect to update my tomtom, I then grabbed the latest maps and postcodes for that map from another sticky, with reference to yuor quote I have a Go 300 and have the same issue when I select the navigate to and select postcode it freezes and reboots.

I have connected it patched it all, patched the tomtom home dll aswell and it still freezes, any ideas and also where do you "Set your keyboard to QWERTY & use small letters"?
