I got hold of three large MKV files the other day in 1080P quality, total size about 80gig. So each film is about 26gig in size, I find the film in media player and click it to play but it just wont start. Normal 1080p films that I stream are about 8-10gig and they play fine, any ideas folks?

befor you click on it to start have you tryed preesin the menu button on the highlighted film of your choice you should the get an option to add files to playlist
and then there is another option to switch to play list .. play the film from your playlist.

also if you clear your playlist when ever you click on a film it will start straight away without having to add it to the playlist list etc

if i don't put the files on the playlist, even small m2ts files freezes after a few seconds !
All work Fine when playing the same files from the "playlist" on Media Player

hi again you might also want to try putting your settings to 720p in auto resolutions setting for enable 1080p 24 mode and 25 mode and 30 mode.

as i have found that quite alot od nkv files ive got of the net will only play at 720p mode think its got something to do with who ever formatted them

Your problem sound like your mkvīs have multiple audio and subtitles which the DM does not like, if you sue mkv extract you can see what files are in the mkv and extract them and rebuild with mkv merge.

tar will give that a go on mkv merge so if i just remux it with mkv merge with only one audion file selected .
will that make a differnce to being able to play it in 1080p mode

Shouldnt make any difference as your only stripping the mkv of the files you need your not changing the video quality.
