View Full Version : Newest drivers for DM8000?

luis

Would somebody tell me where to get the newest drivers to put in flash DM8000. There are probably newer than the ones in the Sticky above available. My 4 images in USB donīt last long, they soon get corrupted (unable to boot). New drivers in flash (Nabilo BH 012 pure flash) would probably help???

All the latest files can be found here.

http://dreamboxupdate.com/

Personally I would load OoZoon as your main image and run with just that.

As Sonic says, put an recent image on Flash (and an image that can be updated with "software update") !
Once a Week, Boot to flash image, and check if they are updates with software update !
Work's very fine this method on all my dm's !

Yes, I certainly need a new reliable image in flash. Would Nemesis be good? I use it in DM500HD and have never had problems with it. And yes, I donīt think I need other images on USB.

Nemesis would be fine and it makes sense as you know how it works.

As I said, I donīt really need a multiboot in my DM8000, a good image in flash is normally enough, but sometimes itīs interesting to try some other image and then a USB stick is welcome.

I just installed Nemesis in flash and all the neccessary things I need and everything is OK so far. Then, nevertheless, I decided to also insert the USB stick (the same I previously used in OE 1.5 images) which I first formatted in PC to FAT32. Then formatted and mounted it in Dreambox, had a hell of a hassle doing it, but finally it showed up with its data in System Information > Device Status and I thought everything went OK.

Then I tried to install MeoBoot, but Dream wouldnīt accept it. Tried it both ways, installing manually from Addons Manager and using telnet, but no go.
I can think of two possible reasons:
I should have installed MeoBoot before meddling with the stick.
Formatting and mounting the stick wasnīt done right, although it appeared in the Device Status.

Now, if I remove the stick, I still canīt install MeoBoot. In case I should have installed MeoBoot before USB, what can be done now? How to delete formatting and mounting the stick? Is there a telnet command? Woud be grateful for some help.

You should install on Flash, an cvs image, Like OoZooN or Icvs !
This is the easy way to go, then install what ever you want in usb !

luis
19-08-2011, 05:40 PM
So, being impossible to install MeoBoot is not because I formatted and mounted USB stick first? Has it something to do with the Nemesis image?

luis
21-08-2011, 02:02 PM
Yes, installing Nemesis in flash doesnīt seem to be a good solution. MeoBoot doesnīt seem to be compatible with Nemesis, and itīs difficult to make USB stick work. Iīm going to re-flash Dream and (according to the advice) install the latest iCVS image. Does it update online? After formatting and mounting the stick I still think about installing MeoBoot. Does it work in iCVS? Or would you rather suggest BA? Iīd like to be sure to avoid going through all that hassle again.

Hi
I think that meoboot 96 no longer works with 1.6. It was fine up to 1.5 but then only exists as ver 99 for VU+. BA latest for newest images and drivers I think.I am interested in the flash situation too since up to now I have had no problems with box overheating or crashing but many problems now appearing with all images crashing after a small amount of zapping although HDD runs fine for films etc with Mountmanager. I do have earlier things on usb so could this be the conflict? Have I not carried newest drivers over perhaps to some on stick? Will try Oozoon as flash and reload the odd image on usb. Cheers - Brain

Right brain, MeoBoot doesnīt work with the recent OE1.6 images. Probably with none of them. I have tried it in Nemesis and in Gemini. No go. Itīs history.
Iīm interested how the newest BA works in OoZoon to install images on USB. As you are going to install OoZoon, let me know. Iīm going to install in flash either OoZoon or iCVS. I belive they are among the most stable images.
After having installed the last version of Nemesis (091) the line Plugins disappear from the main menu after an hour or two. Have tried several times - the same thing. This version seems to be corrupted, I canīt think of anything else. However, itīs still on their site for download.
All the previous versions were OK.

Just install OoZooN, make the software update & reboot !
go to plugins, press red, chose system and you will find Latest BA to install, use a Usb stick !
I have Latest OoZooN on all E2 Flash Boxes .
You can find almost anything you need on the plugins management, except the cam's.
And if you want to test OoZooN with cam's, just install latest Glass utility plugin, everything is there.
Good luck

Havent tried the latest glass utility but the old Tunisia will give you some cams and easy loading. I too would be interested in how the images go on usb. I have tried via Ba and wizard for setup and set route but never sure if they are on usb or HDD!! LOL. Brain. By the way - if you have any older images you want to revisiton HDD then meoboot will easily find them!!

Once you have installed BA, Run Dcc E2, go to Tools tab, and you should see what you need !

PS: never used Tunisian panel, and no need !

Installed OoZoon in flash on DM8000, updated it online, but then the new image (have never used it before) confused me quite a bit.

Could not find File manager (to install from tmp) and Device manager (to format-mount USB stick). Then installed Glass System Utility using telnet and got the File and Device manager there.

No such menu as Blue Panel, as in other images, so I couldnīt start the cam. Then I started it using telnet and it cleared alright.

Installed BA from plugins online but was not offered the installation location (USB or HDD). Itīs probably because OoZoon didnīt recognize USB stick (which worked well in Nemesis and Gemini) and installed BA on HDD by default. I didnīt want it there, so I deleted it using telnet.

Would you please answer me the three questions:

1) Is there a menu like Blue Panel in OoZoon to start the cam from?

2) Pressing the video button I get the recorded movies list alright. But any highlighted movie starts to play right away. When I want to select a movie for playback and switch through the list, every highlighted movie on the list starts playing without pressing OK on the remote. Is it normal in OoZoon? Itīs disturbing and doesnīt happen in other images. Can it be set somewhere so that the movies would start playing only after pressing OK? No such settings in Customize menu.

3) How do I prevent BA from installing on HDD, but on USB, and what way would the image recognize it, how to format and mount it? Went to Glass plugin > Devices Managements > USB device (sdb, sdc, sdd, sde, sdf), itīs not recognized anywhere (Mounts: None).

Thank you for your help m8.

luis

#2 solved already. Set to "Donīt show video preview" and the playback only works after pressing OK. Still canīt see from where to start cam after reboot (other than with telnet) and how format the USB stick.

From memory you start the cam from the script panel.

If you are using latest oozoon with glass utility installed, after the gui reboot, press "blue" button, and everything is there !
I just replaced some binaries on usr/usr_camsrv_bin, to suit my setup, otherwhise this is realy a good solution.
devices manager, etc everything is there ... even you can run a Original dream image (experimental) with this.

Hi luis,
when i used to run oozoon on my 800 i had to modify the fstab file in /etc
it used to pick up my usb hdd automatically;

/dev/sda1 /media/hdd auto defaults 0 0

but i had to add this line for it to mount my usb stick;

/dev/sdb1 /media/usb auto defaults 0 0

check out your fstab file and see what you've got

@ passete

Just one more question m8. Still no luck recognizing, formatting and mounting USB stick. BA always escapes on HDD when I install it. It doesnīt offer me a location to choose. And I keep deleting it from there - I donīt want HDD running all the time.

When you installed OoZoon in flash - did you have the stick in the receiver (the lower slot)?
Somebody told me I should put the stick in before installing in flash. This way it can be recognized. When installing the image in flash I had the stick out. Should it be in? If so, I should install everything from the start agan.

Make a clean install with OoZooN (plug usb before and format with pc, quick format)
Reboot make the software update, reboot, install Latest Glass utility, reboot gui when finish !
Now press blue and go to devices manager, enter the usb, unmont first, then format (ext3), then mount.
You should be able now to install BA on USB.

if the Usb is Formated on ext3 and mounted, BA will chose first the Usb !

If you usb as integrated led, you should see it blinking during BA installation

PS: if BA was installed before on Hdd, go to media/hdd and erase all ba files inside, and before new instalation

So mate, did you manage to get it working ?

brain
04-09-2011, 10:40 AM
Well... because of my gungho use and probably ignorance I need to go deeper into the box - since I stopped using meoboot and changed to BA with 1.6, images have gone onto the HDD so these need to go as well since they will also hold BA files so have to start again and delete these as well. I am not sure [and it may be of help to others] just how many BA files are on hdd apart from the main one - there are several smaller files starting with small case ba - should they go too? Many thanks for all your tutorial help on the forum and anything I have added here may also help others who have got into a similar state as I have. Will let you know how things go. Brain

Hi brain

To do it properly I think you should forget about everything you have on HDD except recorded material. Delete BA there using telnet:

ipkg remove enigma2-plugin-extensions-barryallen

If I remember well there will be one file left on HDD, Ba-images or something like that. Remove it manually.

Iīm waiting to install the whole thing again also, but my DM8000 is "in use" a lot and I must find a gap to do the "maintenance work" to avoid quarrels. More so if the "interventions" may take longer with questionable results.

Let me know after you install BA on USB if you do it before me. Passete will be interested also.

Hi luis
Yup - I too am busy watching my favourite channel Mezzo that never seems to be unavailable despite changes!! That was what I felt I would have to do and like you am waiting for a suitable moment. I will report back of course but, apart from the big Ba file it was the smaller files like ba.sh [script I presume] bepostinst.template, in fact anything with ba small case starting it!! . I have found all the others.Good luck - Brain

brain
05-09-2011, 01:50 PM
Well I said I would report back. Removed all images from HDD; all BA references media/hdd/including in bin file and elsewhere, and emptied BA file but on reboot with update/glass util working and formatting usb BA just loads up onto hdd. Think I will stick with main op system in flash and keep a couple on HDD for emergencies. That way I can always run and with the 8000 probably not a great need for usb anyway. LOl. - Brain

This is because you usb is not well formated or mounted !

Try to format your usb on pc (with the soft provided), don't forget to click "aply" when you chose ext3 and the name !
For the name, you can for exemple put BA
Then with Glass ut. Mount it , don't chose "mount as"

I followed your orig. instr. Did format on PC with Fat32.Before installing BA I went to devices manager and formatted as asked then mounted it - only thing I didnt do was to name it - not mentioned in orig notes I think? It that the only thing causing this or could the stick be damaged? thanks for getting back - Brain

Try to unmount, format again, then mount back, don't use the "mount as" !

As mentioned before, go to media/hdd and erase all BA files inside .
If still not OK, do as i described on the post above.

@ passete

Have tried to format USB in OoZoon without installing the image anew. Put the stick (first formatted FAT32 in PC) in the lower slot, started the image update (didnīt updated, probably there was nothing to update, the image now is OoZoon 3.1.0 2011-05-04), rebooted and watched the led on the stick - it was blinking while rebooting.

Went into Device manager and saw the stick recognized there:
Usb device (sdf) - 1.9 GB/2.0 GB
Mount: /media/usb4, Vendor: N/A, Product: N/A

Pressed the green (OK) and got the message:
Partition table entries are not in disk order, do you want to fix it?

After pressing "yes", I get:
Error while fixing the Partition table - /dev/sdf, you must use external Partition
manager to fix it!!!

This probably means I first have to format the stick in Linux in PC, according to your second instruction, right?

passete

Or use Glass utility (previous installed) to format and mount - vice versa if the usb apears already mounted (unmount and format then mount again) !
You can also format with your Win pc, take a look on post #43

Sorry passete, I must be thick, I just donīt understand.
This is what I do:

- pressing blue button I get the Utility menu
- select Glass Devices Manager > OK > I get the devices: HDD and Usb
- select Usb device (sdf), which is recognized > OK > get the message:
Partition table entries are not in disk order, do yo want to fix it?
- OK on "yes" and get: Error while fixing the Partition table - /dev/sdf, you must
use external Partition manager to fix it.
Thereīs nothing to confirm here and it reverts back to Devices HDD and Usb. Have tried this several times, the same thing. Just canīt understand what to enter (OK?) several times.

1 - if you installed oozoon (like I said in your previous post) - you don't need a blue panel
2 - use the main menu - menu | standby/restart | restart gui
3 - best post your cccam.cfg file
