Help Please DB 500s

Hi

Can someone please help me

I am trying to fit two LMB's to my fix dish to take away in my caravan

One pointing at 28 Wast and the other one pointing at Hotbird

I have the two LMB's connected

I have the 28 Wast setup and working

I cant see any where on the menu where I can switch from one LMB to the other

You Need a diseqc switch (at least with 2 inputs) !
On dm menu, go to setup -> service searching -> satellite configuration - and chose "2 satellites via diseqc A/B"
Exemple : A = 28.2°E and B = 13°E.
This his how it works on dm7020 E1, i guess that it's the same principle on dm500.

Just to add that 4 way DiSEqC switches are almost the same price as 2 way ones. Then you could add a third LNB for, say, 19°E and even another for perhaps 23.5°E.

The only limitation is that it is difficult to get Sats that are closer than 4 degrees as the LNB front caps would need to overlap. There are some LNBs with very small feedhorns but then the bodies touch but a real bodge is to set one of the LNBs upside down.

I'm lazy with my camper and just have a single LNB but then it is really easy for me to rotate the dish and (if necessary) change the elevation manually to get other sats.

I have a two way switch

I am hoping to have a Ccline for the caravan

That is why I am trying to find out how to switch from say sat 1 to sat 2 on the 500s

I have tried what passet (thanks for your help) said but cant get it to work on the 500

It is all working because I have scanned in 28 west and hotbird

It is just that I cant switch from one to other

use a simple diseqc setup and have one connected to 28e and the other connected to 13e , use A or B as necessary in the diseqc section so that it selects the correct input lnb , either lnb A or lnb B as required

I use a similar system but with a 4 way diseqc switch , and a 4 way diseqc switch can be used for 2 , 3 or 4 lnb,s , whereas your 2 way diseqc switch can manage the 2 you require

Not quite sure I'm answering the right question here.

If you are watching a channel on 28E - on the remote press:

OK
Up arrow
Satellites (green button)

does it show both satellites?

If so, just select Hotbird.

I think you and I have been here before

I was asking if a Ccline would work in a caravan

Now for the next stage

I just can't see how to switch from 28 east to hotbird

I have tried every thing that everybody has told me

I just can't see any thing in the menu that lets me swap from one to the other

I must be missing something but what

Yes I have tried it

When I press the up arrow all I get is the channel list

When I press the green button it pages down the channel list

So mabe I have not got it set up right

Have you got a 500s ??

So I could have a step by step guide on how to set it up
to switch between two LNB's

My 500 is currently fooked but I have a 600 with Darkstar image (Enigma 1 ) which should behave similarly.

I take it that all you see in the channel list is 28E channels.

Normally the coloured buttons (see post #6) allow you to have:
Red - all sats
Green - select a sat
Yellow - bouquets
Blue - Favourites

Also, if you make changes to the DiSEqC configuration you will probably need to re-scan the two sats.

my dm800 is the same system , so I would think most images are the same for sat or favourite selection , but this will also depend if he is scanning satellites or using a premade bouquet loaded in by ftp like dreamboxedit or by dreamset like I do

so press up or down and use the coloured buttons as required

as for a cline in a caravan , I fail to see the relevance of this caravan , as all the dm requires is a valid internet connection from any location , so provide the internet connection and it should work , if not it wont work , a very simple analogy ;)

Is their a factory reset on the DB 500s

I have pressed so many buttons because I can't get half the things you all talk about

So if their is a reset it is back to basics

May be i have not explained my self very well

To cut a long story short

I have a Ccline that I would like to use in my caravan

I have a fixed 80cm dish with two LNB's 1 to 28wast the other to Hotbird

I plug this into my laptop with a 3G dongle

I have scanned the channels for 28 west all OK

28 west is working all OK

I am trying to scan the channels for Hotbird

I don't know how to switch or scan for Hotbird

I have pressed so many buttons I don't know if I am comming or going

That is the point that I am at the moment
