i am helping a friend install this dish, we have got our latitude and longitude, it is the numbers on the sliding bracket we are having problems with, totally lost and we have no instructions, can anyone help thanks

first off, i would delete those co-ordinates as everyone will know where u live (not that anyone really cares)

second - i have the same dish, i suppose you have got it on a motor? if so, look for 1w put the receiver on a channel on 1west, bbc for instance, and then swing it around until you lock on.

once you find 1west, tighten up, then set your usals to above - and then try to look for other sats (13e and 19e, 28e are faves)

good luck!

(PS i remember it took me 2 weeks up and down a ladder (on and off obviously cos of work) and when i finally found 1w i was overjoyed, i even remember what song was playing on the radio when it locked on)

Angle on dish is approx 24 degrees for Stab and motech motor 28 degrees for Dark Motor

yes we have tightened the motor in the corresponding numbers to our latitude, it is on the back of the dish that we are struggling in what position to tighten the dish

usually you find triax have an offset of 26 degrees , so take your latitude away from 60 and set the dish to 26 - the number you were left with , so a latitude of 53 degrees , from 60 = 7 , and 26 - 7 = 19 so set the dish on 19 degrees if your lat was 53 , am sure you can work out the maths

set the motor on the latitude , input your usals coordinates into the sat receiver and select 0.8w so the motor moves to thor , then swing to find bbc world

then fine tune from there

Angle on dish is approx 24 degrees for Stab and motech motor 28 degrees for Dark Motorso if it is a different motor the angle on the dish changes, but do i still use the calculation latitude minus 60

you always use the calculation on an offset dish

I always set the motor to correct latitude , do the calculation from 60 and take it away from the dish offset , then set the dish on the resulting answer

then you tell the motor where you are by putting in usals on a usals satellite box , and move to 0.8w for bbc world etc on thor , then physically move the motor left-right on the pole until you find it , lock up and test , then fine tune checking 42e and 30w , 28e and 12.5w etc

dont try to be clever with this , follow the basics

might be silly question, in USALS how do i put a minus figure in for longitude

you make it degrees West instead of East
