After spending yesterday afternoon updating the latest software, I once again have to comment on the stunning performance of this receiver.

I have had my HD9000 for just over the year, & it has never crashed, glitched or let me down in any way.
The versatility of the Spiderbox is second to none, with the CS, softcam & Ethernet facilities.
The HD picture is absolutely stunning on my Sony 46" LED 3d Bravia TV, & when you think that about 5 years ago, I had to have a laptop sitting behind my TV to run CAS Interface emulation software to my Humax.

I have been associated with this hobby for well over 20 years, & in my early days, I had to buy a separate decoder box & sister board to watch just one channel "Filmnet", upon my Maspro 40 Channel receiver.

Provided that everybody scans the forums, & READS the update information that members have taken the time to trial & prepare, there is absolutely nothing that I can see to go wrong.

Thanks again to all of the team who provide this support & to allow "back seat" forum viewers to partake and enjoy this hobby. :respect-001:

Many thanks all and may the first class support continue.

Regards

Honest.

My maspro had 50 channels capacity, 25 were pre-programmed for astra 1 which left 25 available to tune into other channels on other sats.

I motorised the 60cm dish using a car windscreen wiper motor with a dc power supply, you had to have a clear view of the dish using the motor or destruction of the dish would follow with no end stops available.

How satisfying it was getting those extra hand full of channels, latest films live footy and smut wasn't available on uk tv then.

In the late 80's early 90's, D-MAC and D2-MAC resolution was superior in comparison to PAL Analogue, and before the demise of the original BSB, and of course the merger with Sly, it was promised to be the future of satellite broadcasting.

However, towards the end of the 90's, when Digital Broadcasting was steaming ahead at a rate of knots, the use of D-MAC and D2-MAC was left behind.

It's too long ago for me to remember a like for like comparison between HD Spider & an early D2- Mac Receiver, but with the introduction of HD TV with its millions of fixed pixels as opposed to a vertical scan CRT screen, my money is on the HD Spiderbox.

The early days were pioneering, I agree, & I remember the thrill of watching RTL Tut*i-Frut*i on a Sunday night, while everybody else was watching Heartbeat

I would say the last box that broke new ground as well as the spiderbox has was the TM1500super, great bit of kit that lasted for years and befor that the echoster ad3000ipva, and before that the Chaperel Montery, as a spider owner i agree its great but as a pure machine to play with My DM800SE-HD does a lot more but also cost more, for plug and play and a cheap price you can not beat the spiderbox 9000HD, for what it can do.

I ran my d2mac decoder on my amstrad srx 200.

I then progressed into a srx 400.

I dread to think how many hours I have spent on sat tv over the years. Definately more than I have spent sleeping thats for sure.

I am getting to grips with the Spiderbox and agree it is the dogs doo dahs and hopefully will remain so.

I am now sitting with 3 humax 5400's and not decicded what to do with them yet.

Same here guys,
I believe my first set up was the Echostar LT8700 motorised with the original Filmnet D2mac decoder and 'green' card.
Having to phone my supplier for the codes every week was also part of the enjoyment, just so you could watch the 11pm educational movie on TV1000 1 West.
TV2 Norway was also groundbreaking in its day with the original saturday afternoon premiership football and having all your mates over with a beer.
Those were the days!:cheers2:........ And by god the spider is a massive leap forward for the money.:respect-037:
Long live the Spider!!:number-one-043:

Absolutely. I have no reason to give false statements.

hi all having had a few satellite systems in the past ,pace/echostar/phillips d2mac with gregorian dish.

and all the older recivers mostly requiring a seperate positioner to move the dish.
nowerdays with the likes of spiderbox or modern stbs its vastly cheaper to own a satellite system motorised or otherwise, with the arrival of stab moters/disque/usals.

its easier for a novice to install ones own system ,single cable from reciever to moter/lnb

not needing a whole load off cams /programers /bl;ank cards etc

times have changed my local satellite shop has now ceased trading ,no doubt due to people installing there own kit.

some people seem to think the sbhd9000 is expensive but its cheap compared to recievers of say ten years ago.

thank you

Saturday the 27th went down the pan after a good start, anyone wanting to see 3pm footy was dissapointed.

Thankfully 39e was still hanging in, 16e is now back on but the 3pm's were stuffed.
