you could get away with a 1gb.
It does not need a big one unless you are using it to record a film or program to.

You will probably spend circa £30 for a decent 32gB usb stick.

If you intend to use it for recording via pvr then I would recommend that you purchase a 500gB portable usb drive for about £45.

These again do not require mains power nowadays as per the flash sticks, and can be formatted to use over the 32gB standard max capacity of FAT 32.
