S*y Italia card doesn't update in Spiderbox

I have a legit card (not a prepaid) and on a regular basis, it appears to not receive an update signal whilst in my Spider 9000. If I put it back into the S*y receiver, it updates immediately. I'm running a fairly old s/w version - F4.32, LDR: Ver 00.31 from January 29 2011. I wonder if a more recent version might help. Anyone getting the update to work in a Spider?

I had a pre-paid **** Italia card & it ran fine as said, but I doubt very much that the latest firmware has any more softcam support for the built in card reader, as I tried my TNT card in it after the latest firmware & it still dosnt clear the channels, even though the newer Technomate series boxes can read the TNT cards, so so much for the Spiderbox & all it's supposed support.

I have dv/hd 9e card wont clear nowt but clears and updates perfect in tm6900 so come on spider support

Hi Kenny,

My Italia card is prepaid as you know. The new one came a month or two back and originally it had the wrong entitlements, however, it does appear to have got an update in the Spider recently as it now shows just what it is supposed to. It was tuned to one of the MTV channels at the time this update occurred. It could well be hit and miss - I don't know how long they had been trying to get my card updated.

Might be worth having the genuine box on the loop through and just popping the card back in there overnight once every so often to ensure your viewing isn't interrupted.

Holmroad, you are correct if it is a monthly sub card, i am not sure if the Pre paid ones need a regular update or
not.

Would be good if someone can confirm either way.

Usually, no, a prepaid version wouldn't require any updates BUT, as I said above, my new one originally had the wrong entitlements and it has received some sort of update as it now opens the correct packs. It has only ever been in a Spider since it landed in the UK.

Hi Matt - If I could avoid it, I'd prefer not to have another receiver (ie the S*y Italia one) on display. In addition, since my Hotbird connection is via a Diseqc switch, it makes the loopthrough a bit clumsy. I'm still unsure how often the update signal is sent, but it seems clear that the Spider isn't handling it.
