Spiderbox surprise and usb stick

just got my new spiderbox 9900 set it up with a vplus positioner just wandering what do u get with a usb stick when u load the files on to it and if i load the the new sat files on to the spider box will i lose my sat positions that i have set on my v plus box could explain please

you can however load a softcam file onto stick just to get you in the swing of things.

plenty of info as to which channels open with the surprise

loading files from usb stick ALWAYS overwrites the files in the flash , so check you know which sats you have and their vbox number , so if you use a new list you can check they remain the same or amend accordingly

softcam is required for the ucas opening channels like diema on 39e

check jsc sports on hotbird as a starter for your "ethernet" opening using the "gift"

no , the usb stick is used to load todays new patch , channel lists and softcams etc

then you turn on the patch and follow the instructions to open any gifts

full details are in the sticky threads in the FAQ and GUIDES section

the usb is then only required when recording or playing back , or loading newer files

set the internet up no problem gone in to network mac adress put the 12 digit in off the spider nothing opening am i doing some thing rong what else do i do im lost

clearly you are not following my guide in the guides forum

and you should not be touching the mac address

factory reset and start again , ensuring you have todays patch on the box as well ( oct 07 2011 )

then check the mac address matches the one on the label inside the box , and dont touch it ever again

its definitely NOT 12 digits as there will be some letters in there as well ( its 12 hexadecimal characters )

then follow the rest of my setup guide

in that case do a factory reset and load todays patch , then factory reset it again and check the date again , mine says oct 07 2011 , then check your mac code is correct and it has an ip address from your router

in that case you are still not following my tutorial

if the patch now says oct 2011 , check the mac code is ok , and check the router connection and ip address are ok

then follow the tutorial marked in BLUE

then test fta channels , then ucas channels , and lastly check ethernet channels

use winzip , winrar or 7zip to open the files after downloading ( basic pc skills required here )

opening files has nothing to do with a spiderbox , use google to find out how to use them

Look for Ethernet, in the Network menu, have you pressed 1111, on your remote control, to reveal the hidden menu?

Can you please tell us what you have managed so far.
Have you switched on the extended menu, by entering the menu, going to Network and pressing 1111?
Have you located Ethernet, entered it and selected Register?
Is your Spiderbox connected to your router, using an ethernet cable?
What make/model router do you have?

You state you have a 3M dish, what is your general location?
What satellites/channels can you receive?

Have you loaded the latest patch, specific to youre version of the Spiderbox?
Which version of the Spiderbox do you have?

I don't think that you have missed anything in your post above, however deltec may have erased the original Mac address, please see post#6, and this is maybe why he is having so many problems getting connected and setting up the receiver.

my mac adress or ip adress is xxxxxxxx it says this on the router on my ip set it says 192.168.000.005 how do i put the leters using the remote control done every thing u told me to do still no suprise im stuck

iv done an update with the usb stick and it says oct tober 4

on a 9000 or 7000 you look through the top vents with a torch and you will see the mac address written on a label inside the spiderbox on the component board

write this down on a piece of paper , then go into menu-accessory-network , select Network just below Type , where it says IP Setup

The Mac Address is shown at the bottom above apply , check the details in there exactly match the ones you wrote down

DO NOT POST THE ACTUAL DETAILS ON HERE !!!

if they are the same , leave it alone !!

while you are in that menu you will see your router ip address

so something like this

IP address 192.168.000.005
SUBnet mask 255.255.255.000
Gateway 192.168.00.001
1st dns 192.168.000.001
2nd dns 000.000.000.000
Mac Address 01:23:45:1A:B8:C9

if that is similar to what I have written above , then your mac code and ip address are correct , so apply and exit , OR just exit

please note , the mac address shown above is an EXAMPLE , and not anyones actual mac address , that actual info is private !!

if the system info is showing oct 2011 then the patch seems to be in the box , so again exit ,
although mine says oct 7 2011 , not oct 4 2011

then follow the rest of my amended tutorial ( its amended into an idiot guide now , seeing as you asked ;) )
