ikp error

error on vu box when trying to install add on it keeps saying i need to update ipk what does this mean

What is the ipk file you're trying to install and what method are you using to install the file?

When I try to install any app it tells me I need to update Ipk

And the app does not install

Tryed to install lastfm app and YouTube app both say I need to update ipk

What image are you using?

Are you trying to install via the onscreen menu or Telnet?

installing via the onscreen menu

Try FTPing the .ipk file to the /tmp folder on your receiver.

Then Telnet to the box and type

cd /tmp
ipkg install the-file-name-of-your-ipk-file.ipk

If that doesn't work you could also try

cd /tmp
opkg install the-file-name-of-your-ipk-file.ipk

Ok so I need to get an update Ipk.file
Where from please

To update ipkg open a Telnet windows and enter...

cd /
opkg update

[digisat]

I get a new error now

Http/1.1 404 error

[hda5]

It doesn't look like you're able to update using that image mate maybe you should look at trying a different image.

Using another image now and all is working
