HELP - I have read a lot about others having problems with the 1000 and 1005 battery dying. Well now it's happened to me! Of course the warranrty has just run out, shame sir - please send it back and pay at least 100 Euros.
I can get a new battery, simples. BUT, how do you open the darn thing up to fit a new battery in without using a big hammer?
Any sensible advice gratefully accepted.
Thanks

I have the GO1000 and never heard of any battery problems.
Battery lasts about 2hrs as per manufacturers spec.

Xanadu, I used to dream of the battery lasting 2 hours!
As mentioned mine doesn't last even 30 seconds and will not power up without being pluggfed in to something external.
Still looking for a way to open the darn thing without the old sledgy coming in to its own????:001_07:

I can't find a link to a 1005 but put "dismantling a tomtom go" into Gooogle and it lists most of the others. Perhaps one is similar enough to give a clue as I wouldn't recommend a sledgy :D .

This might help. It seems the labels on the base hide the screws that open it.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have now managed to change the battery after some more than gentle persuasion. It's getting it started that is the fun bit. If anyone else needs some advice I am willing to give an in depth report on the 1005 opening game! :flowers-007:
