The recording is a .ts (transport file) either update your codecs ensuring that .ts is in the list or throw it in to a converter (to .divx - ,avi) or whichever codecs are on your machine, you should then be able to open and watch it

I use GOM player, which is free to download, to play recordings .ts files. It works with SD recordings but not with HD recordings. I haven't done this for a long time so there might be some improvements in this area.
It is certainly a better option than converting large files to another format - which takes a long time and often ends with poor results.

This is harder than i thought all the downloads for the above seem to want to either put something else on your computer or change your computer or free download but a price to run it

Just played a file recorded on Technomate 6900HD+ just using Nero, the only codec pack I have installed is K-Lite Codec Pack 5.5.1 (full)
Opened the recorded file - inside are 6 files (001,002,003,subtitle file, dvd movie info & Transport Stream) I double clicked on Transport Stream (with Nero as default) then Nero opened and played the recording.
Hope this helps
