Last night I watched a good film for just over two hours, but with about five minutes to go before the end, the TV screen suddenly went blue, and I missed the final plot, but the symptoms were not at all like the usual network failures as the effect was the same on all channels on all sats.

I rebooted the box and after a while the picture came back on but with strange red stripes on the faces of people.

It was then I thought about the possible effect of heat generated by the box which had been on quite a long time, but it has never happened before, and this got me thinking about anything that was different to previous operating conditions.

Because of a change from the mild weather conditions experienced lately to much colder ones today, and the room radiator being much hotter, due to turning up the boiler thermostat, and the radiator is only about 15 inches from the box.

After using an external fan for a while and of course turning down the rad thermostat, to my relief the vision returned to normal.

I hope this might help any other user/s who may have funny effects and can't pin down the cause.

I have now fitted a small 12 volt fan to the rear of the box, and moved the Spider an extra 3 feet away, and after an extended test found the problem had gone away.

Regards and happy Xmas
