A friend of mine has a problem with his DM8000 he can not solve. I gave him some suggestions but nothing helped.

He had DE 2.0 image in flash (no problems with it) and wanted to install the newest Nemesis 2.4 SVN(101r1). First he installed ssl #84, restarted DM8000, then tried to install the Nemesis. But it wouldnīt install, the receiver hangs in the process of installation. Then he tried to install other different images - the same thing. Tried installing both ways, from the net and using DreamUp, no success either way. Heīs desperate.

Can somebody tell me how to solve the situation?

I don't think he has installed ss84 correctly, I would do that again.
From memory when the box first boots it will show the ss version.

Which format ssl 84 to install, .nfi or .ipk? To my knowledge, installing .nfi doesnīt delete the existing image (as itīs the case when installing new image), it only adds ssl. However, my friend said that installing ssl .nfi format (the same way as installing an image) deleted the existing image.

I am not familiar with the 8K but I think they all look alike-lol
Make sure You upload the right image - now all the clones work good, like the genuin stuff so make sure You have the right images !

ss 84 today will be upgraded if You choose the right image, read on !

The receiver is an original one, not clone, and the image Nemesis 2.4 SVN (101r1) (the newest one) undoubtedly is the right image...
Something else must be wrong.

listen to sonic it sounds like you need to install your ss boot loader again.

Which ssl format would be better to install, .nfi (via browser) or .ipk (via telnet)?

Thank you sonic1. Itīs a pity that the Improved flash error correction is not available for DM8000 also. Or, it may not be neccessary.

In the meanwhile I have received good news from my friend. Trying again, he finally succeeded to install ssl 84 and then the image correctly. Something must have gone wrong the first time.
