All the best to everyone for 2012 and I hope the title got you intrigued, this is my first post in this section so please be gentle with me.
My friends just called me to wish me all the best and ask me if I would help him setup a DM500 HD that should arrive in the next few days, I know it is a clone because he paid below £170 for it.
I have a AZbox (used very little) and have messed about with E2 so know how to use the usual tools, I am more concerned with not bricking it because it is a clone, he tells me it is a Ferrari sim version bootloader SSl 83F so my question is, are there any images, files, settings, or download websites I should avoid, I seem to remember lots of dreambox clones biting the dust after downloading certain software and not sure if this is still the case.
I wish he had asked me before buying it, he as only used a Technomate 5300D receiver in the past and depending on advice that members provide on here I could be leaving him to set it up himself.
