premuin HD - Insert new HDD - power up = brick (NOT used blk connect)

Hi

I bricked my dad in laws azbox.

I installed a new HDD.. I plugged it into the sata connector and used the WHITE powerconnector.. I already saw the posts saying 'do not use the black 4 pin connector)
When I turned it on it just .. didn't do anything.. it seems stuck in booting..

I tried the yamon approach, but when connecting I just get a black screen.
I verified that the COM ports are correct and the timing as well.

sometimes, when I switch it on, I get a few random chars like ')' or '<-' or similar..


I read somewhere that it could be a component that is fried.... does anyone know which component needs to be changed... My dadinlaw happens to be on of those soldering experts.. he teached space-techies how to make electronics that can 'survive' in space... so if we can find the right component I am confident he can remove the old, and put the new in..

yes, indeed I do.

So far.. no matter what I do.. I get the same result... it sits there with the booting led on.. and does nothing...

cannot get anything via ttl or anything...

if u hold down the right arrow, and turn on , with network in , do u get IP address on dispplay?

u might need to unbrick it with special cable, and USB.

Probably the SSD is blown, and also USB interface as a result of incorrect HDD install.
