I've tried to update my firmware and all seemed ok until it finished and rebooted itself. All I get now is an error on the front panel and a blank screen. I've been reading this forum and I believe you can recover this box with the aid of AAF Recovery Tool or Porter Express but I can't get to grips with how to start.
I've been reading this page
https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthread.php?144965-Porter-Express&p=773895#post773895
but I'm not sure quite what
- Mode Software
means. I'm only trying to upgrade to the latest firmware, Icecrypt's website list flash.v3.icecrypt.s4000hdpvr as well as fac.icecrypt.s4000hdpvr.v1.09.90 Should I upgrade them both, and in which order?
I've also found on this forum FAC.ICECRYPT.S4000HDPVR.v1.10.05
As the previous version didn't work and bricked my machine, would I be better off installing this even though it isn't on Icecrypt's website yet?
Many thanks

load porter express, and use that to dump the latest firmware...
assuming you have a serial cable

Echo ManikM, Porter will resolve this, just follow the guide in your link. keep it in "Mode Software".

If memory serves do you need to put the p_module.dll on a fat32 formatted usb stick and have in the rear socket when turning on the box, or am I thinking of AAF (please feel free to correct me, might help frednet out).

Cheers...

As you have suffered a memory crash it is recommended that you serial load the flash cleaner, then factory reset the receiver and finally upgrade to the latest firmware via usb or network.
This procedure should clean and aviod latent memory error that might have caused the crash or any further problems from the crash.
