TomTom Start25 Europe

Hi - just been given a TomTom 'Start 25 Europe' with its 5.5 inch screen, for my birthday and am wondering what to do next as I've never had one before?
Do I have to download newer maps etc if available please?
I assume I have to plug it into my laptop and its (Tom|Tom) software does the rest for me?:coolgleamA:

Use windows explorer & make a full back up copy before you do anything !!!!
Then use Tomtom Home to check for any navcore updates & then use Home again for the latest map guarantee - might be worth waiting for a couple of weeks as the v885 maps are due to be released any time now.
No need to patch any navcores yet :).
