To prevent losing any already loaded EPG when the box crashes:
a. load a page of six channels and save it to HDD.
b. exit the EPG and put the box into standby for about five seconds.
c. bring the box out of standby and load the next page and save.
Repeat the above cycle until all the EPG that are required are loaded.
I find that this works for both the s3500 and s4000 running the latest f/w.

6000 has not been crashing since loading the latest Fw and doing a clean up of the var/plugin file directory. The avbove option also worked for the previous Fw. Can't speak for the 4000 tho.

Doesnt work on the s4000. Looses data when switching from 1 bouquet to another after 2 hrs.
Hey buck how are you saving to HDD ?
I do transfer service data to USB but when I load the fdu the box reboots and all is lost again.
Cheers

Just follow the steps in the thread above. There is no need to load the fdu just the EPG one page at a time.
Hopefully in the near future a f/w upgrade will give the Icecrypts an auto update EPG.
Fingers crossed!!
Hi Buck,
In the steps above you save the epg data to HDD - How do you do this - what steps please ?
Thanks.
Ron.

After you have loaded the 7 day epg press the favourite button and the save to epg option will appear. After saving to epg then exit. Then put
the box into standby, wait 5 seconds and bring the box out of standby.
Thanks Buck, thats what I was missing.
I only get from 21.00 hrs a day to play and by that time I'm fighting with the misis for config vs viewing time !
Incindentally - how log does it take for you to load the full EPG - mine is 558 channels...

I only have 245 channels loaded but only EPG 96 that are used regularly. Takes about 35 minutes on a Sunday morning during
the adverts in the golf.
Buck, I may be being seriously thick headed here but I did the following and still it dont save...
Load page -> FAV -> Save EPG Data to -> OK -> Select USB 1 -> OK
Then nothing happens and I exit.
Restart box - No EPG.
Any more hints chap ?
Thanks in advance.
Ron.
Ok I figured it out. Quite simply overlooked. Shut down the now while on the save epg screen and it saves.
Now after loading 200 channels I get a new issue - not enough memory for open epg error.
Bow then requires hard restart from mains to bring to life as won't respond to remote.
Even after hard restart it will only take 1 page of epg
Loading before it goes again.
Bigger memory chip required in this box.

I'm still having problems with the EPG on my S3500. I've updated to the latest firmware (v ) and did a factory reset. I first thought that part of this upgrade was to automatically upgrade the EPG while in standby mode ... but after 40 minutes in standby (found the suggestion on another thread), I still had nothing.
So I've tried the above hints (saving it on USB... I think), but again without any luck. When it comes out of standby, my EPG is gone.
Does the above solution still work with the new FW? Since the update, the EPG update no loner gives you the channel/ page option ... it simply updates the entire page.

Select `Power saving in standby`to off.
Open EPG and populate one page.
Save to USB either 1 or 2 disk.
Exit EPG.
Put box into standby and wait 20 minutes.
Bring out of standby and access EPG. All the channels should be populated page by page.
Note that there is a problem with the programme synopsis after now and next.
This is for the s3500
Good luck|
