to go past hispasat at 30 west you turn to the west
to go past astra at 28 east you turn to the east

If u are looking from behind the dish east is left and west is right. it sounds like your arc is not right

does your dish stop at any satellites along the way or just go from east limit to west ?
have you read echelon's motorised dish setup sticky. there's lots of info there that might get you sorted.

It'a all down to your angle of dangle you know. :)

Good sticky BTW.

so if you try to go to 39e what happens.
does the dish travel that far, stop, but no signal ie missing the sat - probably your arc is off,
or is it not going that far in the first place you might have east dish limit issues.
remember some motors have hardware dish limits where the arm won't travel beyond because you set it years ago and forgot.

i have the same problem and still not sorted it after 7 years
can get every sat between 30 west and 28 east but either side of that dish moves but cannot get sats

did you start your positioning on 1west?

Arc definitely off! Where you maximise initial signal depends on your longitude: 1W is ok for most of the UK but for EastAnglia 5E might be better and here in Wales 5W. With the motor set to zero you need to set up you dish angles for maximum signal. Your pole must be vertical in all planes before you start! Set up your motor elevation to suite your latitude then set up the apex elevation of the dish. Drive the dish to an extreme, 28E say and check signal by pulling/pushing on the top edge of the dish. If the signal decreases in both cases your arc should be spot on. If the signal decreases when you pull your arc is too far west so rotate you motor east around the pole a small amount and re-check signal. Repeat as necessary to maximise signal. HTH.
