If i record a program on my S4000, I can go into the storage manager and delete it without an issue. As soon as i play the file and stop it the program manager will not allow me to delete the file as it reports its still playing. This happens for every file i watch even after watching a new file if i try and delete the first file I get the same message. The only way I can delete is to switch the system off with the back button let the system boot up and then i can delete all the files built up in the hard drive. I have updated the firmware to 10.05 but the issue is still present. Can anyone help?

The issue you mention is not a known fault so you maybe suffering a latent memory error.
I recommend using flash V3 cleaner firmware to overwrite the flash memory and then doing a factory reset and reloading the V1.10.05 firmware.
This should clear the flash memory error.

i used to get that...annoyed me greatly!!

i used to delete from unc path:

\\192.168.0.5\storage

then delete the file(s)

PS this might only work after a reboot of the ice

Thanks for your suggestion. I tried loading V3 cleaner from USB and managed to corrupt the boot loader. After eventually getting hold of a null modem cable I was able to use porter express to load v3 cleaner on to the box. The system booted after the install and i did a factory reset then uploaded V1.10.05. Unfortunatly I still have the same problem I can only delete files if the system is given a full restart or going into the hard drive with a nework connection which is a work around, but I would prefer just to push a button on the remote.

Hi,
hope this reply is not tolo late, I had a similer problem with my 6000, I eventualy discovered that whilst I had time shift recording enabled it would not allow me to delete films I had recorded, turn off timeshift recording, and I think this will allow you to delete the files you do not want anymore.
