42E and 13E Hotbird (all) at the same time. How?

Hi there,

I'm currently watching TS on 42E, however I'm very eager to watch Hotbird on 13E as well.

I cannot use a motor since 1 room of my apartment loves 42E TS, where as another room in my apartment loves Hotbird (for the sports channels). Both rooms would like to use a separate receiver at the same time for the respective satellite, hence a motor wouldn't work.

My question is, how can I set my dish (it's a 60cm dish) so that I can receive 42E and 13E at the same time? It's currently locked in to 42E. I should also mention that I'm in Bulgaria and that's where the help is needed.

I would get a motorized dish with a dual output lnb to your separate receivers and take it in turns for the apartment to watch the channels. Or you can get a separate dish and receiver for the other apartment. The setup you want will involve lots of wiring, hassle, head scratching and you may face conflicts with the receivers which may result in black screens. Its best to go to a good satellite shop to get the best advice if you want to achieve this setup if possible.

best idea is to use 2 dishes , one on each satellite , and if you want the channels in both rooms fit twin or quad lnb,s and diseqc switches as well

then run a feed from each dish to diseqc 1 , with a coax to the first receiver

and run a feed from each dish to diseqc switch 2 , with a coax to the second receiver

then setup diseqc switching on each receiver so that you can access both dishes and get channels from both satellites on each receiver

So there's no way to do it with 1 dish? What about a multifeed LNB setup or something? Also, would a 50cm pick up all the Hotbird channels are would I need minimum a 60cm dish?

You can pick most of hotbird up on a 38cm dish, I've got one doing exactly that, heavy rain wipes it out but 99% of the time its fine.

Its not much bigger than a dinner plate and wont upset the neighbours or incurr planning probs,

I cant see you getting 39e and 13e on a smallish dish like a 60cm as its a spread of 26 degrees , it may be possible on a 1.1 metre triax or something like the specialised multifeed ones like the Wave Frontier 90cm Multifeed Satellite Dish which has a 40 degree arc according to fle bay

Here's a link on how to install 2 receivers to one dish. The demo shows the man holding a small multifeed dish, well the only way for your setup to work is for you to replace your dish with a 1 meter or larger one to cover 13 and 42 degree arc.

As suggested by echelon a 90cm dish with a 40 degree arc is perfect and will solve your problem.

What about 7E, 9E and 13E on a 60cm dish all at once? Would that be much easier and a safer bet? How would one go about getting all 3 on 1 dish, non-motorized? Also, would that size be sufficient to get all the channels (incl. encrypted) from all 3 sats?

plenty of info on doing exactly that in this dish forum , and the lnb forum too , here on pimps

there are even sticky threads showing pictures of similar setups with different dishes and different lnb,s , so why you are asking is beyond me seeing as there are plenty of discussions on these 2 forums about it

and as I stated earlier , the 90cm wavefrontier can get several satellites over a 40 degree spread , and comes with about 5 lnb holders , so the fact is that that one dish does everything you require

and if you stick to 4 satellites as a maximum , you can use a standard cheap 4 way diseqc switch to switch between the lnb,s from your receiver as long as it supports simple diseqc switching

or for more satellites use the more expensive 8 way switch instead
