Hi cromwell,

What smart Tvs with 3D do you rate.
Im looking at at buying an LG Passive 3D,
its reported less eye strain when Tvs in 3D mode.
If you like viewing 3D, go for a 3D Tv that has
a 2d to 3D converter built In.

BF.

I have had Both Passive and Active LG 55" and Currently Own a Samsung 59" and i use to have the first generation samsung 64".

The pro's for the passive are cheap glasses and you can use the same as what you get at the cinema con's it wont do Full HD 1080p 3D, LG promised a firmware to sort this out but it never materialised.

The Pro's for the Active it will do Full HD 1080p 3D, The glasses are not cheap although some are now £20 so they are coming down in price.

Both active and passive sets all have a 2D to 3D converter built in, its a bit of a gimmick and nothing like true 3D although gives a reasonable result.

if you watch a lot of sport then the LG is out i had it for 3 weeks and it cannot compare picture wise to my Samsumg Plasma Footie is just not the same on an LCD or LED for that matter.

No sorry i have an ultimo on it at the moment, but dont worry the spiderbox will work with 3D. Nearest to a spider i had was a Technomate 5402HD and that worked with the 3D no probs, Tried all my sat boxes with the tv in 3D mode and they have all worked Ultimo,Duo,DM800se etc..

Hi BF,

Sorry mate never really tried the recording side on the lG as i did not have it long enough really, I just concetrated on the picture quality side of things in SD and HD and of course fast moving sports.

Thats why i sent it back and went back to Plasma with the Samsung

Dont forget to upgrade your HDMI lead to version 1.4a otherwise 3d will not function.

Thats not quite correct as there are officially no more numbering standards for HDMI and the cheap free ones you get with a Sky box work with Sky's 3D channel

The new HDMI standards are as follows

Standard HDMI Cable – up to 1080i and 720p
Standard HDMI Cable with Ethernet
Automotive HDMI Cable
High Speed HDMI Cable – 1080p, 4K, 3D and deep color
High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet

Just to put peoples mind at rest as i just mentioned the Cheap free one with a Sky box will also do Blu Ray Full 1080p HD 3D no problem at all.

Recently Purchased a LG 42 inch Passive smart tv, use with spiderbox and 3D Blu rays on PS3, much prefer to Active , No batteries in Glasses no Eyestrain or Cross over , frankly wouldn't have bothered until I had seen the new LG passive model 42 LW550T takes some beating Has time delay on Audio so you can sync better with Wireless HDMI transmitter from my spiderbox can stram from PC movies or Photos or music using Nero media server (Disc included)

Hi markinstien,

Is your LG the 650T or the one you
refered to LG 550T.

Im stuck between the LG 650T or
the Samsung UE55D6530.

When reading about the LG 650T, it
refers to its PVR as, Very light.
It can time shift (Lg call it Time matchine).
What Im trying to find out is, Is it posibile
on the LG to record to Externel Hard Drive
and Play recording back plugged into a
PVR Satellite box that has a USB port
to accept the H/Drives recording.
I think the LG will record to a H/drive and
will Play back recording on the the same LG Tv.

Can you Help, Thanks BF.
