So, after being away from my house for 3 months, i have returned, with a new motorised 90cm triax set up, after many years of using fixed dishes.
The motor is a technomate TM2300 super.

I have been following this tutorial:

GUIDE TO MOTORISED DISH SETUP DM800 TUNER FOR USALS

Image Used -Blackhole V0.12

If your using DiSEqC 1.2 you will have to set-up the dish positions manually. If your using USALS it should be automatic.

Here's the USALS procedure that I used.
First make sure the dish is correctly aligned on a satellite, eg Astra 28.2E

Press Menu
Set Up
goto
Service Searching

Tuner Configuration

Choose Tuner ALPS BSBE2 (DVB-S2) - Press OK

Now for my configuration***8230;***8230;..

Configuration Mode: Advanced
Satellite : Astra 2A/2B/2D/Eurobird 1 (28.2e)
Change LNB to LNB 1
Priority : Auto
LOF: Universal LNB
Voltage Mode: Polarization
Increased voltage: yes
Tone Mode: band
DiSEqC Mode: 1.2
Toneburst: None
Committed DiSEqC: None
Fast DiSEqC : no
Sequence repeat : no
Command order : committed toneburst
Uncomitted DiSEqC command : None
DiSEqC repeats : none

Longitude: Set this to the correct Longitude for your area.
To find the correct longitude settings for your area go to the following website
Bing Maps - Driving Directions, Traffic and Road Conditions (http://www.multimap.com)
In the "Find a Map" box at the top left of the page, enter your post code.
Select your country in the drop down box below it and click on the "Find" button.
This will display a map on the screen and below the map at the bottom right you
will see your Latitude information, example below for Postcode district:NE39 1
Lat:54:55:09N (54.91913)
Lon:1:44:55W (-1.74859)
So in this example in the Dreambox menu you'd set
Longitude: 001.748
West
Latitude : 54:550
North
Use USALS for this Sat: Yes
PRESS OK TO SAVE
Once this is set up on one satellite its easy to sort the rest.
Go back into reception settings
Highlight satellite and choose the satellite you want
The example here shows Hellas on 39.0E

Now select LNB and right to LNB 1

This will fill in the configuration with your previously set configuration
PRESS OK TO SAVE
then scroll back up to satellite
scroll left or right to another satellite
goto lnb scroll right this will automatically set that satellite up
keep repeating this on all satellites needed

It all seems straight forward, but i am having a big problem from the start.

With the dish on 28.2 i selected a simple set-up for 28.2, and scanned that satellite just so i knew everything was ok.

All channels picked up no problem.

However, when i attempt to use the usals set up and add 28.2 as lnb1 as above, the dish then moves to another satellite ( i think 23.5) either from satfinder or if i have a channel from 28.2 on. If i scan the 28.2 satellite the dish attempts to move also.

So, even thouigh i am on 28.2 the receiver thinks otherwise and moves in usals.

The same applies if i was on 23.5 for example, dish will move to another satellite when either scanning that satellite or watching a channel on it - when in usals that is.

Is it my long/lat settings?

In deg/min/sec for latitude for 53 55 49.xxx i would enter 053.554 north
in the dreambox, and for longitude for - -1.386611 i enter 001.386 west. These co-ordinates are just an example and not mine.

Is this correct?

Any ideas where i am going wrong guys?

I have updated my satellites file, and have now re-flashed using open pli 1.0

Thanks

did you start by setting the motor on your reference sat? in uk 0.8w is used a lot and has bbc news as fta. The idea is you set dish dead straight on 0, then go to receiver and enter 0.8w, then you move the whole assembly to fix on bbc news and get 98% q and 98s. Then once tweaked tighten up everything, then with all the sats loaded and even a channel list you are all set.

and you have posted in a few places, pedro at avforums should sort you out.

The sat installer never had access to my dm800 at the time, so he alligned it to 19.2 east. When i returned home i just followed that tutorial and added satellites to lnb1.
Dish moves, but not to the correct satellite positions.

Thanks mate.

i dont know how proficient you are but for a start you could cheat by adjusting the location in small increments, i use dishpointer to find lat and long, much easier and none of this minutes etc, so say you are 51.45lat and 2.8n long, and dish is moving off to the left reduce the long by a few steps, say 2.4 in my example, but make sure receiver saves it. try a few times, and it may work. if not i would do a clean start, say where you are roughly and i'll tell you the reference sat to use, one you use correct sat from the outset the arc is correct.

you can get preset sat listings and motorised channel listings as well, save you trouble of searching for each sat.
