s3500 EPG and USB HDD

I have a 1TB USB HDD connected to the s3500 through a USB hub. When not being accessed the HDD spins down and remains
idle until recording or playback. Now with the EPG updating in standby the HDD runs continuously until brought out of standby.

My solution to this is to put a USB stick (29 MB) into the hub and save the EPG to this. Works perfectly and the 1TB is not running
all night long!

Good idea but my hdd stops spinning if nothing is being written to it.

Also if ou use a usb stick for EPG what procedure do you use to then use the HDD ? Hub or unplug and plugin hdd in ?
