DM8000: Production is shut down

DM8000 HD PVR
Production is shut down
The DM8000 HD PVR translated the claim into action to unite digital consumer electronics into one device. It is all the more regrettable, then, that Dream won't be able to carry on the production of this groundbreaking multimedia center.
This is because several electronic components are no longer available. Dream Multimedia won't develop a successor of the DM8000. Nevertheless, Dream looks ahead to the future. At this year's Anga Cable show Dream lifted the veil and let visitors take a brief look at the Goliath project.
This innovative software and hardware platform will outshine everything Dream has developed so far.

The real reasons are, DMM unable to buy processors, sim cards h a c k ed, copied and on sale in China, and VU+ duo 2.

The real reasons are, DMM unable to buy processors, sim cards h a c k ed, copied and on sale in China, and VU+ duo 2.Why can't they buy processors? Clones and hacking will always exist.

Because NDS have forbidden Broadcom to sell them any direct. At least this is what my friend with contacts making clone boxes tells me. He says the fact that clone dreambox sims are made is not well known is because the clone makers have thousands of clone sims on their hands. This of course would affect their sales as well.

Because NDS have forbidden Broadcom to sell them any direct. So where do they get the broadcom chips for their 500HD, 800se and 7020HD? Vu also uses broadcom. Clones also use broadcoms chips. The new goliath project by dreambox is also rumoured to be using a latest broadcom chip.

Well I am told that they rely on the Chinese where the boxes are made, (unlike the 8000) to source the chips as they are unable to buy them direct.
Apparently DMM said quote:
"Therefore, it is planned for the new Dreambox Goliath Project, a new, powerful processor. Broadcom offers this to any suitable processor, which means that Goliath will also be a detachment from Broadcom."
My source thinks that DMM are finished. VU+ have reduced their price and extended their guarantee so in one hit made both clones and dreamboxes not such good value. The announcement of VU+ duo 2 with 1300 mhz chip is another nail in DMM's coffin.
I am only the messenger, repeating what I have been told, I am not anti dreambox, I have bought several and still own three genuine boxes including an 8000.

Ive always owned dream M.M. boxes ( still got a 7000 ) , cant help that dmm have priced themselves out of the market
I would say it a price issue more than anything else.
I have a DM800HD-se and a VU+ Uno, and if i was pushed to say which was best its the VU+ by a very small amount, then compare price VU+ wins hands down.
Does not mean i wont buy another DM product they do get great support and they work well.

I have found a site this morning offering what they call a "100% original 8000" for £275, wonder if this confirms the rumour that the sims have been copied?

i think personaly if the market is good and sales are good dreambox would continue to sell the dm8000 and they would have chips i think not being able to get hold of chips is just another poor excuse.
having owned dreambox for quite sometime i am very glad that company like vu exists because vu are kicking dreambox in to touch i think.
the new 7020 hd is overpriced to compared to the vu ultimo witch has same specs its all about price and dreambox will continue to drop out of the market if they dont buck there ideas up.
the oe2 image from dream has no new updates for 3 weeks now dmm boards excuse is programmers are on vacation updates will be put right when they return ?? i meen please come on what sought of garbage is that.
history repeats itsself over and over again .
ok in a nut shell dream release 7020hd same specs as vu but more expensive.
dreambox anounce new box that will out shine everything they have done so far its called golliath and will have more faster processer what a joke
then dreambox anounce none production of dm8000 hd great timing i have to say..
im really not arsed about this golliath and i think many are not to bothered either about golliath they could call it king kong or the best box ever.
i carnt see there being any big changes in satellite recievers untill signals go 4 k thats when i will buy new reciever and it wont be a dreambox ever again unless they bring out a box that has better specs than the vu and its cheaper than vu only then will i consider putting my faith back in dm

Has been there for some time now they also offer VU and Azbox and Openbox
Copied sims are no problem @all
Nothing original @all but far more cheaper in case off DMM models they even offer the 5620 still and all 500 models so there you know they are all clones

Yes absolutely amazing the Chinese, all they seem to want to do is copy another product. No design and development needed. Of course if you have purchased a box which goes wrong, dont even think about sending it back to China as satellite boxes are illegal to own there so it wont be allowed into the country. Government doesn't want population to learn anything, yet seem happy to allow conterfeit goods to be exported.
As you know I spend a lot of time in OZ, they are getting very rich by digging minerals from the ground and selling them to China so they can be made into more tat and sold to us.
(my post has turned into a rant)
