Could a member please advise, if you use a DVI-D to HDMI converter
lead does it carry audio. At present am using DVI-D cable with added
separate audio lead to TV. Don't have HDMI socket to test.

Am unsure if the 8K, DVI-D output enables audio.

As far as I know,DVI will only transmit video so using a converter won't make a difference as the audio is not there to start with.

Hope this helps.

That's not true as early Radeon PC Graphics cards used the DVI output for both in fact most still do, This was adapted for dream multimedia and the DM800 but as everyone knows it carried a DVI - HDMI lead so still required a TV with a HDMI input.

The OP's TV's DVI connector is more than likely just as suggested though 'Video' only so probably would not work, You never know though

catoro, hdmi = dvi-d + audio,
so yes you can use the cable to get the sound from it but it will be digital,
so its the same as taking the sound from optical/spdf.

My DM800HD clone connected using the supplied DVI to HDMI lead gets both video and audio.

Not worked out how but there are so many DVI pinout variants that an email to DM would probably get the definitive answer.

Thanks to all for replies, I did a test yesterday using a small TV with HDMI input
connector. Have both video & audio so with correct cable it works. Needed to
know as newer TVs are manly HDMI.
