Hi All,
the worst has happened and I accidentally powered off icecrypt s3500hd while firmware was upgrading to "FAC.ICECRYPT.S3500HDCCI.v2.10.67. 2012Jun27.ird".

S3500hd powers on but no response to remote control.

I tried ftp to see if i could somehow load firmware again but cant ftp ip address. I couldn't ping either so I did an nmap scan of network and the box isn't taking an ip off router.
I'm stumped.

Is there a way to physically do a factory reset of the box?
Is there software I could use if connect via a cable?
Is there software I could put on usb that would automatically be detected?

Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Try using a null modem cable and porter express. once connected, use flash.v6.icecrypt.s3500hdcci, then do a factory reset and reload firmware. Hope that helps :)

Sorry couldn't reply earlier, busy with work. These are the steps...

>Switch off icecrypt from mains or toggle switch from rear
>Connect icecrypt to com port on pc
>Run porter express (run as admin on win 7)
>Choose software from drop down box
>Hit 'Browse' and Choose flash cleaner you downloaded for your box
>Hit 'Download'
>Switch on receiver from the mains or the toggle switch on rear of receiver
>Wait for 'Complete' to show on display on icecrypt and porter express
>Power down icecrypt and back on
>Wait for the 'erase' and 'write' to complete on icecrypt (100%)
>Once completed go into icecrypt main menu, select System Recovery and System restore to factory default.
>Power down Icecrypt and switch receiver off from mains or toggle switch on rear
>Hit browse and now select the firmware file for your box on porter express
>Hit 'download'
>Switch on receiver from the mains or the toggle switch on rear of receiver
>Wait for 'Complete' to show on display on icecrypt and porter express
>Power down icecrypt and back on
>Wait for the 'erase' and 'write' to complete on icecrypt (100%)
>ALL DONE

Hi Blakmumba,
Thx for following up. I got it sorted by running the flash cleaner and then firmware load via porter express. You're a star. The only unusual thing is that when I now try to record to ext HD the box switches to the channel that is being recorded. I've only added the HD to usb1 now to test the recording function as the new firmware has the series record option. I thought I could record programs while watching different channel? Not the end of the world but if anyone knows Id appreciate advice. Did not start another thread as it may be related to my firmware probs.
Thx in advance

You can record one channel and watch another provided they are on the same transponder. Press the pip button and the box will find a channel
onthe same transponder you are watching. Press pip list button and you can select any other channels available. You can also do this if you want to
record two at the same time and watch a third.
