For a long time now, my 5200 D USB occasionally fails to power up first time.
The front display never shows any 'bars' and nothing happens. I find removing power again and re-powering freed it up and it then powers up fine,
This has gone on for over a year, about once very 12 power-ups.
However, now it fails to power at all and shows a scrolling series of bars. (ie instead of the steady four bars while it booted, they were scrolling left to right).
It would not boot up at all unless I removed the LNB connection, then it booted up OK. Replacing the LNB and it went back to scrolling bars.
there is nothing wrong with my LNB feed as i have tried all sorts of combinations to test things and it is definitely the receiver.
I suspect it is the power supply.
Checking the PSU I can see nothing really wrong except just a tiny bit of 'gunge' at the base of the large capacitor (33uf 450V).
Could it be this cap causing the trouble?
I need to get a reasonable confirmation as these caps cost around £10 inc postage etc.
Cheers.
