I'm using a Seagate 500gb USB drive which has been trouble free for over a year.
Recently though when playing back recordings made on the Spiderbox it freezes at random and will not play any further.
This is even happening on recordings which previously played OK.
However if I plug the USB drive into the PC and use Media Player Classic all the files play fine although I need to select the various parts on an HD recording.

I would suspect the external drive if the same problem occurred on the PC.
I'll make some recordings overnight using a new 32gb drive and if the same thing happens the receiver is looking suspect.

An update:

Made several recordings on the new drive and the same random freezing on playback is happening on encrypted or FTA channels.
Once it freezes pressing the fast forward keys makes no difference - even though the display indicates that it is forward -it will not progress past the point that it froze at.
Any help and suggestions would be welcome.

I have had that problem on my 9900. I found that doind a complete power off (from the switch at the back) wait 20 secs and power back up, has sorted it. Now I always do that before a recording. Don't know if this helps.

Which USB port are you using?
It might be worth doing a factory reset, then try playing the files, before loading anything. If the fault still occurs try re-loading the patch.
Does it always freeze at the same point, on both the hard drive and USB? After a certain length of time or data usage?

Tried what paulus suggested (post 3) and so far, so good. Files that wouldn't play now do :)

It didn't seem to matter which USB port either drive was plugged into and the freezing was random- could freeze after 2 minutes or 20 minutes.

Thanks for the help and I'll keep and eye on things and let you know what happens

I assumed this was just another bug which plagues the 9900 but not the 9000 - so fernandez I am interested in whether you also have the 9900. If so this just adds to the right hash they made of the 9900 code, so many bugs and no fixes (last firmware was 6 months ago).

It's the 9000 and the first problem I've had
