right got my icecrypt s4000 today and had a lovely bonus it only has a 1tb wd hard drive fitting which was not advertised so £125 now sounds a bargain price for this box now so im very happy but need a little quick help

can someone tell me what all of theses are for (i know some ie firmware ver is app version i think but want for ref) and do i need to upgrade any of these
i need to put a nline in so please what do i need to install for this and is there a sly uk 28.2 channel list and if yes how do you install it i am looking at the forum for myself but want to watch footy so trying to do this quick will then look better later
also what do picons do and how are they installed please
and also how do i partition the internal hard drive so i can put other firmware on

u need to download XCAM mate, its wrapped up with other plugins, look in the plugin section.

then u can edit the file by browsing to your box \\ipaddreessofbox\ then it will show u there the shares

or u can enter the nline manually via the handset in the plugin settings.

i dont have this box anymore, but pretty much mastered it when i had it

sounds like u got yourself a bargain there the disk is worth that pretty much on its own.

yes was a bonus wasn't expecting it right put xcam config and xcam client on and it freezes on xcamconfig every time and mgcamdconfig same freeze have press off button on remote no other button works

loader 1.54 is the first task to do if you go higher than that .32 firmware in future

then choose a stable os to put onto it (if we get one)

then install the xcam plugin if its not there already, ideall the latest one

a good price as it includes the hdd :D

a 2 gig hdd is about £70, so I assume a 1 gig is about £50 or less

having a problem loading latest bootloader got usb to null cable to laptop dont seem to want to know so plugged into my desktop serial and just boots up as normal i am trying to use polar express is the any way to update bootloader other than serial cable

You can load the bootloader from a USB plug as a plugin. Pin code is 0815

Down load file HDF-Flasher-154.06 from the ICECRYPT forum. Open it(it´s a .rar file) to the plugin folder. Copy this onto an empty USB stick.
Put this into the box and when plugin appears press red download button. After the box has rebooted go to menu>plugins and start Flasher L1.54
It will ask for a Pin: enter 0815. Then toggle to the left or right to Icecrypt S4000 and enter.

I didnt think fat32 was an option on this machine so have no idea why you have mentioned it

it was either ext2 or ext3 , which is standard linux formatting, but I think one of the images allowed ntfs to be used.

so reading the various images will tell you what changes have been made

if in doubt I would go for the standard default ext format

hi format on ice s4000 gives me journaled (jfs)fat32 and ntfs also anyone know how i can partition this harddrive so i can put multi firmware on

right got 1.54 bootloader and firmware 1.10.67 but still cant put my nline on xcam config keeps freezing have to switch off box

right got the line in with ftp program but very glitchy is this the firmware got Mgcamdclient on also tried xcamclient still glitchy any reason

as mentioned in various threads , .32 is the most stable of the recent patches

checked my hdd in system info and its using ntfs (am sure it used to use ext though)

its funny went back to that one still glitchy using mgcamd is there any other better way to use nline or is thiis glitch it for this box

nline works better than cccam, but until those dumbos in korea make a good , basic , stable patch that delivers what this box promised it will never compete with the other boxes I use, like spiderbox , dreambox , even the eagle is more stable , and thats in newcamd and cccam too

that is the million dollar question, that should be addressed to those developers in korea

seeing as it can be done on dozens of other boxes I and others on here have never understood why these developers cannot get the basics right

the problem here is you are asking us, but we are home users like you, so we only use the software (or try to), we do not develop it

so you are asking the wrong people , as this is a user led forum and not a developer forum

the same thing happened with the technomate 9100 SD box previously, which is one reason I would never buy another technomate, and my experiences as a user with this icecrypt means I would never buy another icecrypt for similar reasons. I have enough boxes that are stable so I no longer waste my time with this one

EPG questions dominate satellite forums, but you will never get one as good as the freeview one or sly plus HD one

every other box has various methods of trying to emulate sly, and some try an off-air download method, others try internet download methods, but I have never seen anything as good as the sly one (which I have and use daily)

the open is a cheap box, and you get what you pay for on that thing

one other thing i connected to the ice using aaf maxboot installer but it never sees my internal hard drive or usb pen drives any idea whats wrong there

u should have read up on it on here mate, loads of moans about the EPG.

the best bet, and what i did, is to convert it to E2 and then use crossepg ....that worked ok, ccam worked ok too, or oscam.

problem is cant get usb serial cable to work to get image on usb stick for e2 got the multibootloader on but now stuck how do you get the usb ready and how do you put the e2 image on the usb pen not that bothered about the epg this box as it is is better than the other i got but its un watchable glitchy on sports 1 hd

already told you in the other thread to forget about using usb to serial adapters and use a direct connection from a proper com port to the box

if that means using a port replicator or cardbus card on your laptop then that is what it takes
or use a desktop/tower/laptop containing a standard 9 pin com port and running xp

its no good ignoring what other people tell you and winging it

use the correct tools and you stand a chance in getting a job done

so I repeat , this icecrypt forum is to ask questions or provide answers to dealing with the icecrypt using its standard firmware and plugins

the E2 icecrypt forum is for dealing with conversions or converted icecrypts using E2 images and plugins

this distinction will be enforced rigorously so I do not wish to see any more E2 stuff in this thread or forum

we do not charge for opening an E2 question in the E2 forum, so I expect forum rules and etiquette to be adhered to

if youve done the maxi boot, then you use maxi-installer on a laptop (over lan\wireless) with the image on laptop, and you point it at the on the memory stick plugged into icecrypt.

i did a whole guide on this.
