hi guys,

im a bit confused.

so, ive downloaded the kernel, from _http://www.openrsi.org/downloads.html which installs fine

then i downloaded the image (for AZBOX PREMIUM HD) and the image appears to install fine using AZUP 2.2.6.

then it reboots, and just says STARTING OPENRSI, but nothing comes on the screen.

PS when i install the image, i untick, only kernel, and copy kernel...and choose EXT3, but i got same results with EXT2 - this is going to DOM.

any ideas?

I have a Azbox premium, which had the Std Azbox soft loaded up untill a couple of days ago,it now has the OpenRSI software installed on it.
The software seems to be a slightly earlier version,OpenRSI-openpli-2.1-azboxhd-20121013,Quiet impressive.
Ill have another look for for a update.

Cheers Paul

Hi,

just update via software update on menu.

Also another version coming soon with the newer 3.5.5 version kernel for the older boxes.

and why are you installing the old kernel versions?

http://www.openrsi.org/openrsi/downloads/

OpenRSI-2.1-azboxhd-20121013.zip 49.74 MB 01-Nov-2012 07:23:27

this has the newer 3.4.4 kernel unless you use multiboot to other firmware.

i thought that kernel, killed your box, saying BOOTING....

it's more to do with coming from that kernel back to the older kernel when people did not understand you had to load kernels separate. RSI no longer do the separate kernel in their newer kernel releases.
I've used RSI and tested RSI for awhile now and have not had that problem.
The important thing is to use the correct AZUPD version to install.

funnily enough, i noticed that in the newer image;

OpenRSI-openpli-2.1-azboxhd-20121021.zip - there was something in the azup util saying kernel: 3_4_4UK or something...this is the image that installed but didnt work for me.

and the day older one, didnt have anything in the kernel info in azupd
OpenRSI-openpli-2.1-azboxhd-20121020.zip

and that one worked.

i read that you have to download and install the kernel first.

and then when u install the image, u deselect copy kernel, and only kernel when u install the image - before when i forgot to uncheck the COPY kernel, i was left with a box, saying BOOTING.... but i managed to get it back using the TTL cable or whatever its called.

I have been back to the openrsi web site, and d/l 'newer file dated 01-11-2012 (as below)

OpenRSI-2.1-azboxhd-20121013.zip 49.74 MB 01-Nov-2012 07:23:27

Using Asup v2.2.6

I used the out of the box settings.
Device - Dom
Fs - Ext 3
Advanced Options - Format Extended Partition,Copy Kernal,

Ect.

I too saw something along the lines of kernel: 3_4_4UK while Azup was doing its job.

All seems well at the moment , just re-scanning a few sats.

I could never get my Azbox to update using the software update utill .... it always said that it was up to date.

Just do what Paul has done to use 3.4.4 When updating to 3.4.4 no need to flash kernel first.

Also check what you have installed via information and about menu.

We are in the process of testing PLI 3.0 with 3.5.5 kernel.

just installed new one. OPENRSI3.0 found here:
_http://www.openrsi.org/openrsi/downloads/

everything works, timeshift, recordings, ch4hd.

finally!

pretty quick too

GREAT JOB ALL

on the face of it, this kernel, and firmware finally after about 3 years make the box usable
(i think the AUX button shows your recordings in case u couldnt find them)

PS i think TSPANEL 6.6 causes things to crash, leave it at 6.4 for now...

remember the packages you need now are mipsel32.ipk's oe2.0 not the old oe1.6 packages.

It caught me out when testing Pli 3.0

Don't get to excited we believe they maybe a memory leak on drivers. With my old Premium HD when watching encrypted channels after awhile I get glitches on FTA this never happens and works okay.

also remember to use Plugins download for most addons you'll require.

Do you know how can we make pingflood's plugin to work with new image?

I have pingflood sent a PM. Maybe he compile his keymap with python 2.7 and we can use it further.
