I would be grateful for a 'how to' doc.

I am keen to carry out searches but am struggling to find out exactly how to use the search tool.

I don't want to be wasting my time.

I have a new faster nvidia card coming on Monday to replace my old nvidia card.

you need to make a decent sized table for a successful search. A gtx 580 is a good card and can make 1 chain in 24 hours. Colibri states 200gb table for excellent results. 1 chain 780mb so do the math :)

I see various chains around various boards, but are these chains for a specific channel or just for any biss channel?

any chain may or may not give you the biss key, the more chains you have merged into you table the more chances you hav of finding the key

My new Geforce GTX 660 arrived today.

This one searches at 20700 (ish) keys per second compared to just under 3000 keys per second with my old card.

Just need to find lots of chains now.

Is it just a matter of searching and downloading them from the internet or can I do it from scratch myself?

Any helpful info gratefully received. :D

If you can find them it is much quicker to d/l chains. However, after the initial euphoria and sharing, most chains are now kept private.
You can of course, with your fast card generate them your self - but it will still a long time.
You need to decide which chain type to generate too - 0xFF, 0x00.... or ?? as different channel types require different RBTs.

How do I do them myself then from scratch (just in case I have to)?

I have found some chains and am going through them now.

You use Colibri's RBT tool to generate and merge chains.

I am using RBT tool to generate and merge chains, but I am not creating my own chains to merge into tables.

How do I do that?

Create a folder to store the chains.
Select the "plain type" you want in "settings"
Click on "Start" in the "Calc. Chains" section.

But that is using .rbc files that have already been created by s9omeone else. I am currently doing that.

How do I create .rbc files myself or is it not possible?

I am new to this so excuse me if I don't sound like I know what I a doing because I don't!

Where do the .rbc files originate from?

What I've just explained generates the *.rbc chain file.

After it is created - which takes some time - you then merge it into your RBT (of the same type)

Which type for PLTV 10 East?

I do not know. However, I'm pretty sure not the old standard B8hx00h or B8hxFFh. I may be wrong though.

cards above 580 perform worse than gtx580. gtx580 goes 40k+ an old gtx 560ti will do 24k.

make your own chains and swap between friends, find them all over the internet, what ever it takes to build a large table just dont post found keys all over the internet.

I know you can have two graphic cards attached to some mother boards (mine can) as per SLI but......

Can you have two attached and not using SLi so I can use one for providing graphics via the monitor and the other purely for searching?

Would that work without any conflicts?

I have a powerful power supply so that would not be a problem.

Doesn't seem to be much about.
Seems to be shrouded in mystery.

You could not go wrong by searching for...........

CSA Rainbow Table Tool.
CWFinder 0.9
Mpeg2 ts packet analyzer
