Hi everybody,
I'm using satellite systems from about 25 years, I used many many receivers (analog and digital boxes), but I'm ABSOLUTELY NEW in Linux boxes (well, I'm absolutely new in Linux!!!).
So, I would like to begin in this way and I'm interesting in Vu+ Duo2 (when it will be available). I have some questions please.
1) Satellite and terrestrial performances
What about satellite and terrestrial tuner quality? I need DVBS/S2 and DVBT in the same receiver. And what about blind scan? Is it possible and reliable?
2) Recording
I know it's a good PVR installing an internal hard disk. Can you record from external
source, too? Or just from internal tuner? For example, I would like to connect an analog source and record/time shift in the box as you can do using internal tuner; is it possible?
3) Networking
I believe that networking is main reason for using Linux box; is that correct? What can I REALLY do more than normal non-linux receivers?
For example: transferring recorded video file from/to internal hard disk, upgrading images and channel settings, controlling the box by web interface or similar (or using specific iphone/ipad apps), streaming video to iphone/ipad...... All these operations are in my goal.
Is the box recognized from Windows "My computer" as a network device?
4) Images
I don't understand differences between images. It seems that Blabkhole images are installed by most users...... Why? Any particular functionality?
5) Do***entation for beginners
Is there any do***entation/tutorial/forum for beginners in this type of boxes? I read Vu+ user manual but it seems a very common user guide for a normal satellite receiver.... not useful for satellite fans like us.
Sorry for many questions, but I would like understand before buying. Thank you for your help.
